Prince William, Kate, Queen Elizabeth & More Turn Out For Garter Day (PHOTOS)

LONDON - Britain's royal family turned out for the annual Order of the Garter service at Windsor Castle.

Queen Elizabeth II was joined by her husband, Prince Philip, the newly-married Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and a host of other royals for the Garter Day ceremony.

Garter Day is a symbolic occasion when holders of the honor, chosen because they have held public office, contributed to national life or served the sovereign personally, meet to celebrate the most senior British order of chivalry.

The former Kate Middleton, also known as the Duchess of Cambridge, grinned broadly as she watched her husband, Prince William, take part in a procession ahead of the service -- causing him to blush.

I for one applaud her. After a decade of flashy scantly clad young women who love to shock I am excited to see her wear beautiful and stylish and yet conservative outfits. I wish American girls would take notice instead of walking around with their too small tank tops and bra straps showing and wearing sweats that say juicy across their butts and flip flops to church.

She looks like what used to be called "a lady." In a world where something called a "kardashian" is considered a celebrity, it's not surprising that it's difficult to recognize "a lady." She looks perfectly appropriate for the event and her role.

Kate is so pretty she could wear a freaking Hefty bag and make it look good. Still, I hate the monochromatic matchy-matchy dress/shoes/silly hat/morning coat thing she seems to have going on. The look is decades too matronly for her, though it's very, very safe and I'll bet the Royal family whole-heartedly approves.

Do you have any idea how many billions in tourist dollars the royal family generates? Or how many people pay to tour those castles, palaces, and museums? Or how many public engagements the queen has every year -- for a woman 85 years old? The government gives the Queen a stipend to offset her official duties -- like entertaining American presidents or traveling abroad. She gets no other income. Her family members get no income from the government. She pays personal tax on her own income (by choice) and donates much of it to charity. She has served her country tirelessly for more than half a century. How about you? Royal events bring tourist dollars to Britain. How many people pay to see you cut a ceremonial ribbon at a new hospital?

These hats are awful - they look cheap like Kmart. Apologies to the designer, but the ones that look the most like plates are the worst. Besides, this hat is wearing her.

Garter Day...sounds like something Bridget Jones and her family would celebrate! Oh, to have the life...! Thinking at this point Kate isn't too ambitious. Don't think you could be and also be a Royal!!

Obviously Prince Andrew's daughters have no clue how to use a mirror. Again they have appeared in public in hats and outfits which can only be considered bizarre even for the English. Of course, they could just be making a protest about the treatment of Sarah Ferguson via fashion statement.
