Osama Bin Laden Body Search: Bill Warren, U.S. Diver, To Launch Search For Al Qaeda Leader's Body In North Arabian Sea (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/13/11 06:20 PM ET Updated: 08/13/11 06:12 AM ET

A self-proclaimed "expert treasure hunter" claims to be conducting an underwater search for Osama bin Laden's remains to prove that the al Qaeda leader has in fact been killed.

As CBS is reporting, Bill Warren says he is using his 180-foot-long boat, currently docked in western India, and high-tech equipment able to detect anything underwater to locate bin Laden's corpse, which was quickly buried in the North Arabian Sea on May 2. "I'm doing it because I am a patriotic American who wants to know the truth," Warren, who plans to photograph and videotape the corpse as well as conduct a DNA test, told the New York Post. "I do it for the world."

The expedition -- which will utilize "[the same technology] they found the Titanic with" -- will reportedly be funded by private investors in Chicago and New York, though Warren, who is between 59 and 67 years old based on varying media reports, refuses to divulge other details. The California resident went on to dismiss concerns that bin Laden's body might be at least partially decomposed already. "A fish can't get at it," he is quoted by CNN as saying. "He's in a sealed, Navy burial bag."

He isn't the dumb one. The people that donated money for his expedition are the truly moronic.

This is ridiculous on so many levels, not the least of which is thinking how much investment money is being wasted that could be put to much better use in a variety of ways to do something good or helpful or useful in our country or in the world. What are the odds the body will be found? What value does this expedition, whether successful or not, have for anyone? Why do people with a lot of money often come without a lot of sense?! What a waste!

Impossible to find the body now. The US Military has gone to extra measures to ensure the body will never be found. These measures were not made public. But Im sure the investors know better ways to waste their investments.

Ya know what, I bet some crafty sailor on that carrier took a look at his GPS device (somebody has to have one on board) and made a note of the coordinates. That would be very valuable info to...someone.

Bin Laden was buried at sea 45 days ago in a vast body of water that is undoubtedly inhabited by all manner of sea life. Mr. Warren is a really curious dude. Good luck with that.

Has anybody told this guy they dumped him in the Indian Ocean and not in the pond at his local golf course? Wouldn't want this guy to waste his time looking in the wrong spot.

Sadly the world of journalism is being attacked---diminishing the quality of content.. the news of Bin ladens death was a beginning for some journalists to try and find out how Bin Laden could have been hiding in plain sight for so long.. Those who dared to report anything about alqaeda in pakistan or the possible military connections are being abducted-tortured- and even killed..
The absence of information has only strengthened the alternative conspiracy media which is easily manipulated by opinion and unconfirmable reports that can be spun into anti-govt rhetoric to give the people the impression that govt is the enemy rather than the more likely private industry that has a history of war profiteering---I'm really amazed at the lack of stories being published---and this 'new hunt for OBL' story being all that even relates to the amazing facts that tie Alqaeda to the pakistani military in the same way Xe(blackwater) is tied to the American military----A privatized group and the revolving door between the two. http://english.aljazeera.net/programmes/listeningpost/2011/06/201161193653809589.html

Exactly who do you think controls our government?

Who on earth would dare to question a government & corporate owned media, who has been caught red handed time and again lying to and misinforming the people? A crowd of self-servient pseudo journalistic racist Liberal Nazi heterophobics who proclaim anyone who questions their rhetorical line of BS to be alternative conspiracy media types?

How dare they question a profession that is built upon the foundation of one group conspiring against another to move forth their own political agenda driven policies, by implying they might somehow be guilty of conspiring.

How dare they question a President that implies all who oppose him to be Racist Bigots. Who makes the head of Fannie and Freddie his economic adviser, exposed as the fattest little piggy’s at their money trough. While every political Czar is directly tied to Wall Street @ the Military Industrialist, while all others are self-ordained eugenics theorists.

How dare they see that the national media altar every “Dumbed-down Koolie Slave Fundamentalist" worships at, are owned by the very Corporations and Military Industrialist they denounce.

How dare they not worship the living God of the almighty Federal Government, as well as its high priest media demagogues? How dare they demand the greatest crime in the history be investigated and punished? How can the outright theft of 26 trillion dollars not be worthy of investigation by this government, or media news outlets?

How Dare Americans Demand The Truth from their servants?

"... He says after he finds Bin Laden it is possible he'll sell his corpse to the highest bidder."

This is from another article I read online.

You are aware that his family witnessed the death, and have been interviewed by Pakistani authorities? So his body may have been dumped in the ocean and might be in a body bag at the bottom of the sea. I bet the administration would have a fit if the diver was actually able to recover it. I would have loved to see proof in the form of a picture. As a citizen the costs associated with his death warrant some proof. It could be argued that Bin Laden won his war, look at the mess this country is in right now.

Such a sense of entitlement. Just because you want to see the picture doesn't mean the government is required to show you it. Nothing good would come out of showing the picture. The simple fact that he hasn't had a new video come out to embarrass us is proof enough.

Maybe they realized they got the wrong guy and had to dump it to avoid embarrassment.
Who knows--Half of America don't even care---or have the interest in uinderstanding anything other than official govt reports---It's been a grand play---I wonder if it rivals the red scare in how much profit that generated during the cold war...
