Matthews Trashes Eliot Spitzer

Chris Matthews let it be known that he's not a fan of Eliot Spitzer's TV anchor gig--and doesn't think the ousted governor should even be talking about the Anthony Weiner scandal, as he has been.

Matthews was speaking to top House Democrat Jim Clyburn about the Anthony Weiner scandal on his Monday show. He asked Clyburn how he would feel if Weiner eventually returned to his former role as frequent media commentator.

"You can't stop him," Matthews said.

"No, we can't stop anybody from saying whatever they want to say, but we certainly can determine whether or not they speak on behalf of the caucus," Clyburn responded.

"I hate to break it to you, but some other network can put Eliot Spitzer on television," Matthews shot back. "I'm telling you, you can't stop the networks from inviting who they want to invite. So, I know it's ludicrous. By the way, that was ludicrous that he's even talking about this case.
