Jimmy Fallon On Piers Morgan: Conan vs. Leno Feud 'An Insult,' 'Like Watching Your Family Fight' (VIDEO)

Fallon Morgan Conan Leno

"Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon will appear on "Piers Morgan Tonight" this evening, and according the preview below he'll be dishing on some not-so-current events: the late night war of 2010.

In the interview, Fallon opens up about the battle between NBC, Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno over hosting "The Tonight Show," saying for him it was "almost like watching your family fight."

Fallon, like Jimmy Kimmel and Craig Ferguson, served as a bystander during the feud and offered thoughts on both sides to Morgan. When asked if the fight's catalyst was NBC telling Leno they'd replace him as host of "The Tonight Show" in five years, Fallon agreed:

"That right there for me, I'd be like, that's an insult."

But he also supported Conan, saying he felt bad for him but that he doesn't specifically blame Leno.

"[Conan] wanted his shot at 'The Tonight Show,' and I don't know if he got a fair shake," Fallon said.

The full interview airs tonight, Wednesday June 15, at 9:00 p.m. on CNN.

Fallon's show is hands down the best late show on TV right now...

I think Kimmel has the best monologue
very edgy and he goes after rich and famous

after the monologue he gets boring

When it was announced that Fallon would do a late night show I was among those thinking it was the worst decision possible. Early sampling showed a nervous neophyte. And damned if he didn't go to work and get better and better in record time. Gotta admit how wrong I was to judge him so harshly. The guy's got the goods and a terrific production and writing staff. It worked.

If being told to retire was such an insult, Leno should have moved to another network. Fallon's on NBC, so I can understand why he doesn't want to bite the hand that feed him, but considering he took over Conan's show (and does a pretty similar show), he probably should have just stayed out of it.

I guess it was like watching your greedy, crooked, talentless uncle yet again not allow your much more intelligent, creative cousin get a shot at renovating the stale family business.
09:44 AM on 06/16/2011
Do you actually think either of them are that talented? And no I don't think Leno is crooked or greedy. Its not about the money for him, its about being relevant in people's lives. Crooked and greedy is what Wall Street is, not a squabble over who gets to play ringmaster on a show that should have been retired years ago.
