Kwame Kilpatrick In Court Today: Prosecutors Try To Block Earnings From Upcoming Book

The Associated Press has quoted the former Detroit mayor as saying that all proceeds from "Surrender: The Rise, Fall & Revelation of Kwame Kilpatrick" would be used to help pay off the money he agreed to pay Detroit as part of his plea deal to end the criminal prosecution stemming from the 2008 text message scandal. Kilpatrick still owes $860,000 of his $1-million restitution tab.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy wants Groner to set up an escrow account for any of Kilpatrick's book proceeds, arguing that Kilpatrick's past conduct shows he can't be trusted to turn over any profits.
