Michelle Obama Builds Playground, Hosts Congressional Picnic On Wednesday (PHOTOS, POLL)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 06/16/2011 7:34 am   Updated: 08/16/2011 5:12 am

Michelle Obama made a pair of appearances on Wednesday.

In the morning, she -- along with KaBOOM! and members of Congress -- built a playground at the Imagine Southeast Public Charter Elementary School in D.C. She sported a short-sleeved yellow cardigan, layered tank tops and cropped gray pants for mixing concrete and testing out the new swing set.

In the afternoon, she and President Obama hit the Congressional Picnic on the White House's South Lawn. The first lady changed into a striped Talbots dress and her orange flats.

Take a look and tell us what you think.

Quick Poll

I prefer:

FLOTUS' playground outfit.

FLOTUS' picnic outfit.

BOTH! Each is appropriate for what she was doing.

Neither, really.

I like that picnic dress: it's retro looking. Only I would want mine in red and white.

Talbots is focusing on lots of blue and white in that collection of dresses, skirts, blouses, etc.

Sundress is a simplistic design that looks both cool and refreshing. Very nice on Michelle. The playground outfit is what you'ld see on any common ordinary housefrau. Nothing to write home about. It would have been great if she'd have worn one of those playground workers colorful tees with a pair of nice jeans.

I love that dress too, and I read past the Talbot's part. I'll have to look it up.

We have an incredible First Lady, America! I love this dress on her. It looks so much better on FLOTUS than on the Talbot model.

Is it my imagination or does Michelle look younger every time I see her?

She has an eternally youthful quality....yet she also seems very wise. It's a cool combination.
