Powerlifting Pastor Wants To Pick Up 20 Women At Once

A man is going to attempt to pick up 20 women all at once this weekend--and, no, it's not Anthony Weiner.

Nope, he's Reverend Kevin Fast. When he's not lifting the spirits of churchgoers in Cobourg, Ontario, this powerlifting pastor demonstrates his strength by lifting, pulling or tugging his way to a nearly a dozen strength records.

Since he was discovered by Ripley's Believe It Or Not! back in 1999, Fast has arm-wrestled a fire truck, dragged tractor-trailers loaded with cars, pulled an entire house, lifted 1,100 pounds and pulled a C-17 military transport plane.

On June 18, he hopes to add another item to his weighty resume by lifting a platform holding approximately 20 women, using just his back and legs.

The feat, which is taking place in Cobourg, is partly to promote a new Ripley's book called "Strikingly True," due out in September. But for Fast, 48, it's also a way to pay homage to the strongmen of the past.

"[19th century strongman] Louis Cyr did a similar stunt in his act," Fast told AOL Weird News. "I'm doing it out of curiosity because this is an ancient feat that's been done for hundreds of years."

To make things more compact, Fast will be using a custom-built platform that measures 8 feet by 3 feet. He'll start by lifting five people, then 10, then 15 and will finish by hoisting 20 women, many of whom are fitness models and bodybuilders.

"We're dealing with 'live weight,' so the biggest challenge will be balancing everything," Fast said. "They're not supposed to move, but they forget."

The maximum weight he lifts could be 2,000 pounds, but he's probably smart enough not to ask a woman -- any woman -- her weight.

For some people, a one-ton weight-lifting attempt would be enough, but Fast is only just beginning.

In addition to his platform lift, Fast will attempt another first on Saturday -- a tandem truck-pull with his 18-year-old son, Jacob. The pair will pull two large fire trucks; a first for what is likely the world's strongest father-son duo.

It's all unbelievable, which is why the event is being covered by Ripley's, according to Edward Meyer, Ripley's vice president of exhibits and archives.

"He's definitely the strongest man Ripley's has ever had the honor of documenting," Meyer said. "Using film footage from these two stunts with some previous footage we already have, we plan to create an exciting little movie to show in all our museums around the world of Canada's strongest man -- and his amazing son Jacob, too."

Although Fast separates powerlifting from the pulpit, he does view his feats of strength as a way of fulfilling God's word.

"I feel my strength is a gift from God, so I will use it as long as I have it," he said.
