The Most Expensive Public Colleges For In-State Students

Considering staying in your home state for college? Some schools are certainly more of a tuition bargain than others.

On Tuesday, US News and World Report compiled their list of the 10 most most expensive public colleges for in-state students. Although these schools are not exactly costly compared with the most expensive private colleges (those top out around 40,000) they still dwarf the public college average.

US News has more:

In all, 452 of the 573 undergraduate programs at public institutions surveyed by U.S. News reported in-state tuition and fee data. Among them, the average tuition and required fees were $7,042 for the 2010-11 academic year, compared with an average of $13,762 at the 10 most expensive schools.
