Anthony Weiner Submits Official Resignation Letter

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Anthony Weiner submitted his official resignation letter on Monday to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York Secretary of State Cesar Perales, House Speaker John Boehner and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. His congressional tenure ends at midnight on Tuesday.

The two-sentence letter of resignation comes four days after Weiner, a New York Democrat, announced he would step down after his online indiscretions with various women were exposed. Weiner admitted two weeks ago to having sent a lewd photograph via Twitter, but he resisted pressure to resign until a number of other details about his online dalliances came to light.

"It has been an honor to serve the people of Queens and Brooklyn," he wrote in the letter.

Weiner made $174,000 per year as a member of Congress, which means he earned about $1,900 since announcing his resignation on Thursday.

A number of members of Congress, including top Democrat Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), called for Weiner to step down. President Barack Obama also weighed in, saying he would resign if he were in a similar position.

This letter is sad, just three lines that could have avoided the 3 ring circus he insisted upon carrying on due to his narcissism. But nonetheless, it is sad too, because it ended a long career, some good stuff he has accomplished because of his foolhardiness, deceit and lack of responsibility.

With Wiener's weener out of the picture, who on capital hill will entertain us now/next? Stay tuned, there's still plenty of entertainment yet to be had from our elected representatives. With 2012 getting closer the digging for dirt and smear campaigns will intensify. The focus on the real issues will take a back seat to the circus that is politics.

Willing to bet that he held the democrats hostage over this issue. In about three months or so he will land a rather cushjy job either with some obscure entity controlled by the democrats or the DNC. Realistically he had no other option unless they can live off his wifes salary. I was not a fan of Weiners but I will say he must have been honest. His net worth is practically nill. Interesting that during this recession Nancy Pelosi's net worth increased by 68%. Wonder how that happened?. This would make a nice blog on the HuffPuff but I bet it never happens.
