Barnes and Noble has over 2 million e-books compared to Amazon's 900,000+. With the Nook you can also buy from Google's e-book store and also check out e-books through your state's public digital library.

Sold my Kindle on Ebay. Got my new Nook. Far better reading experience and without those uber-irritating page-turn buttons on the side.
Up loaded some great books from my local library and stored some of my pdf music scores. Love it.

Wow! Thank you for posting that, I have been wavering between the Nook and the Kindle. I think that you have helped me make up my mind!

You welcome.
The only plus going for the Kindle is the 3G with one-click wireless download from Amazon website.
IMHO Nook wins hands down in all other aspects.
And at $50 savings!

They didn't ask my opinion, I surely would have told them the Amazon Kindle has superior service, selection. as soon as a book is released you can get it on Kindle. If you have a Kindle account all it takes is one touch of a button, and viola' your book is delivered to you.

Maybe a a better reader, but if you can't get the books you want at Barnes and Noble, then your out of luck and the greatest ereader in the world does you no good.

Actually B&N nook is a much more open format than the Kindle. If I can't get it through them I can side load it from almost anywhere else. So "out of luck".... not really. How about the proprietary nature of Kindle/Amazon overall? Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
