Aaron Sorkin Quits Facebook

Screenwriter and producer Aaron Sorkin has quit Facebook, he revealed today at the Cannes Lions Festival in France.

The writer of Facebook movie "The Social Network" said he only used the site briefly for research and doesn't plan to return to the site, The Drum reports.

"I have a lot of opinions on social media that make me sound like a grumpy old man sitting on the porch yelling at kids," Sorkin confessed.

The news has made waves on social media, shared on Twitter by CNN's Piers Morgan and others. Facebook user Thomas Coleman was among those to share the news on Facebook, calling Sorkin a "Grumpy Old Writer."

Despite the move, there are plenty of other fake Aaron Sorkin accounts on Facebook, at least as of this writing.

Sorkin won an Oscar for "The Social Network" and he has also blogged for The Huffington Post.

Aaron Sorkin is a busy, busy man who probably doesn't have time to be on Facebook. He gave us a spectacular film about the creation of Facebook, so just say "thank you". Some people prefer calling someone, or talking to them face to face, so that makes them "grumpy and old world"??? Ridiculous. He's a tremendously fastidious film maker and I've got a hunch that takes up a LOT of his creative time. Thanks for what you do, Aaron.

Great poll, HuffPo! Are you 'unsure' you were surprised? Yes, I guess there was a funny feeling I experienced in my head when I read this news. Was it surprise? Was it a concussion? Was it a gust of wind? I am not sure!

Where's the who cares button? And yes, I did come here to say who cares. There's articles on this website that foreshadow the death of our oceans.

haha! Agreed: who cares!!! I'm a big fan of Aaron Sorkin's work, but his facebook habits are of no concern.
I'm not a fan, however, of Huffingtonpost's ridiculous headlines, moronic polls, and annoying photo gallery ratings.

Facebook has two settings: staring into the abyss and being overwhelmed with trivial content. And God help you if you critique any of your friends' comments, pictures, etc. I'm beginning to question why I have an account. What I need is a life.

I thought of deleting my own profile as well for sometime now..although I agree with some of the comments here, I still believe that you still can control most of the stuff that you put out there for the world to see...

You do not need to write or share everything online...

If FaceBook went offline it would affect 0.01% of my life for the first few days, so I don't think it merits being news that somebody terminated their account there. Same as Twitter.

Thank you for the validation, but I meant it as a sort of 60's youth rallying cry like "Don't trust anyone over 30."

Obviously though the kids of today are too lame to pick up on the joke.

Well good for Mr. Sorkin. ! I do not have a facebook account and I find it difficult to understand why anyone would want to place their Entire Life on Line,. Whatever happened to Personal Privacy ??? Your Friends and Neighbours do not need to know every minute detail of your Personal Life. Privacy is a Good and Safe Habit . Just posting a comment on a News item leaves one vulnerable to all sorts of ridicule and discernment. If you are on any of the Social Nwetworks, I urge you to be Cautious in the type of information that you may divulge
on Line. I wish everyone well !
