Dog Stoning Sentence In Jerusalem Exposed As False

Jerusalem Dog Stoning

First Posted: 06/22/11 01:45 PM ET Updated: 08/22/11 06:12 AM ET

Christian Science Monitor:

Have you heard the one about the dog who walked into a rabbinical court?

Here's how the BBC reported it: A pooch made its way into a beth din in Jerusalem's ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim. One of the judges, believing the dog to be the reincarnation of a now-deceased lawyer whom the court had cursed some two decades earlier, sentenced the dog to death by stoning, and ordered that the sentence be carried out by children. The dog escaped before the sentence could be carried out. Dog-lovers have filed a complaint against the court.

Why is this false article still on this website?

"The Internet has a profound impact on democratic values. There was no other era in History that "we the people", have no restriction to express free speech. On the other hand, it opens the door to all the ignorant, psychopaths and fanatics that show their illiteracy, shallowness and empty-hardheadedness when they lie shameful and distort the truth using the permissiveness and tolerance of the Internet." Layers of fact checkers in the world's first tier media. Simply layers of fact checkers.

After all, look at the reliable reporting on Jenin and al-Dura (/sarc)

YNET is a trusted Israeli news source subject to censorship. They often publish things and have them suddenly disappear or otherwise peddle back based on pressures behind the scenes.

This retraction is the falsity. The Ultra-Orthodox, aka now the mainstream Israeli voice, is just as bad as the Wahabbists who subjugate their women and such.

Remember that planeload of rabbis last year who were flying around proclaiming some incantation of Talmudic magic on the earth below? What was all that about?

Now that I think about it - why was this post even necessary, besides attracting the usual attention any article that mentions Israel does? The HP didn't post the original story so there's no need to post this...except to get the traffic?

There are four kinds of people whose ire is raised by articles like this: (1) People who have a respect for all sentient life, (2) people who see the oppression of Palestinians and see it reinforced by "Christians" given to off-planet, apocalyptic stridency, (3) people who want the sovereignty of the people restored to us by the U.S. government, and (4) people who fear that the truth of israel's decadence will be revealed.

There is one kind of person whose ire is raised by articles like this:

1 - those who think the media should fact check articles to make sure they're true before publishing them.

I read this story first on YNET not the BBC, and being an Israeli news source, if it was a hoax they would be first to expose it as such.

Then you know that the YNET article said that the court said the story wasn't true?

All we can infer from that is that they retracted the story on orders.

"....just a rabbi telling kids to throw rocks at a dog." Is or is that not true?

So now the HuffPost is in the business of spreading typical anti-semitic conjured myths and superstitions....pretty low that this is the bastion of the " left" now, and what it represents.

They managed to get 250 comments on a story debunking a story that they never even ran. While on the story "Syria Troops Enter Turkish Border Village: Activists " they have 3 comments.
HP knows what gets the clicks.

Notice how they found the cutest, most lovable-looking dog for the picture? And of course with a sad-looking face.

Ha, Huffpo, you made me look. You caused a huge spike in my blood pressure, but now that it all was just "gotcha" jerknalism I feel better now. I'm just glad that there really was no doggie hurt!
