Jon Stewart Trumpets False Fox News Statements Fact-Checked By Politifact (VIDEO)

Jon Stewart Fox News

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 06/22/11 10:35 AM ET Updated: 09/28/11 01:56 PM ET

Since Jon Stewart appeared on Fox News Sunday last weekend, "The Daily Show" has devoted two segments to skewering the network's biases. On Monday night Stewart cried foul on Fox News' edit of his interview, and on Tuesday night's show he settled the score by listing dozens of false statements made by Fox News, as reported by Politifact.

Before he could do any skewering, however, Stewart first had to apologize to Politifact for a false statement HE made during his Chris Wallace interview. Stewart had inaccurately called Fox News viewers, "The most consistently misinformed media viewers," but the fact-checking group reports that not every poll lists them as such (Stewart blames his ignorance on watching too much Fox News, naturally).

After that was out of the way, Stewart immediately turned the tables on Fox and went on to list dozens of false statements made by the network. Lies about Obama's healthcare plan and his connection to ACORN, fear mongering about "death panels" and the war on Christmas and talk of a "government takeover" were some of the more familiar subjects.

"Fox news is like a lying dynasty," Stewart said. "They're like the New England Patriots of lying!"

Watch the full segment below to see the lies literally pile up around Stewart as he rattles them off. And if you're wondering if Fox has ever corrected any of these errors, according to Stewart the answer is no:

"They've got a lot of f**cking correcting to do," he said. (Scroll to the bottom for highlights from Stewart's Fox News Sunday appearance.)

I'm afraid Chris Wallace won this round. That "most informed" poll is thoroughly bogus in that it states Leftie spin in the form of fact, and anyone who doesn't agree with the position is deemed uninformed. That was such a flat-out push-poll, it was comical.
06:28 PM on 07/26/2011
Can you please share an example of leftie spin presented as fact in one of these polls?

Not that it probably matters, but just for full disclosure... Hulu is owned by NewsCorp.

Hulu is a joint venture between Universal, Fox, and Disney. News Corp. executives probably wish The Daily Show weren't streaming on Hulu right now.

Why did John Stewart get away with a racial attack on Herman Cain? Literally doing an Amos and Andy voice and then ending the bit with "HERMAN CAIN 2012 - I DON'T LIKE TO READ". So now it is ok to portray all black people speaking in that old racist drawl? It's ok to make fun of an educated black man doing "black voice". It's one thing to question policy you disagree with, racist attacks should be off limits, even on politicians. But, I am sure that Cain bit was comedy, but of course the attack on Fox was John being an educated and informed political pundit. I love his show, but this was straight up ugly, old school racism.

And this is relevant to the article how?
Don't you ever just face the fact that your side has told a boatload of lies and own up to it?

I think you have the wrong article.

Not really, its a standard tactic the Cons use. Ignore their own problems and point fingers at other people.

Put differently its like when somebody gets caught for speeding and they say: But officer THAT GUY is speeding too, give him a ticket instead.

I am grateful to Jon Stewart in his attempted to reach the masses of FOX News viewers and open their eyes to the truth of what Fox is really about. It's nothing more than a right-wing propaganda machine. Despite what your opinions are of CNN or MSNBC, there's no BS like FOX BS.

I thought it was pretty brave of Jon to do the interview. Not many of the right would step on his program even tho his is a variety show(So is Fox News Sunday...although they don't acknowledge that). Faux was going to try to set him up it seems...with the edited interview. Politifact is unbiased fact finding and they have reported on the misrepresentations from both sides. For those of you thinking they are "liberal" media...take a walk to thier website...but be prepared...people that represent you...are listed there...and lots of them!

For the conservatives that don't believe Fox lies, watch this video about the two reporters they fired for not lying for them.

Where's Rick Sanchez?

If Stewart were a real stand-up guy he'd have demanded Sanchez be reinstated.

Did anyone (from the left that is) realize MOST of those quotes were from the TALK SHOW commentators and not the NEWS portion of Fox NEWS? Leave it to HuffPO and Jon Stewart to be misleading or incorrect.....Oh, the word now is Liars, not misleading or incorrect.

Stewart is as always very funny. But some of what he says is true that Fox got wrong, but some of what he said was false was actualy true. But all news media does that exept MSNBC, they lie about everything

because quoting a fact checking source like politifact shows liberal bias. It's ok. 2+2 can equal 5.
