Mormon females not only serve a shorter mission, but they also aren't allowed to serve until an older age -- 21. (men 19..and all the wisdom that comes with it)

Women in, "The Church," are prioritized towards family building. . not immediately serving in the mission role. So, if they can't land Jimmer Fredette by the spinster age of 21, traveling the world explaining to everyone how smart you are is always an 18 month option.

They started going after the Third World when they found few Caucasians are now willing to swallow their prosperity scheme of a church.

All those brown people think they will be bleached into a Mitt Romney in the afterlife --- but the doctrine against darker skin is still in the books, and they are still looked down on

This quiz is more about trying to tell their story than how much we know. Pretty worthless. Sorry I wasted my time.

When my Grand Mother converted to Mormonism I studied the religion extensively. I did fine on the quiz...just thought it could have been more insightful and revealing for others. Felt like it was not engaging or thought provoking. Just a personal opinion, obviously. Just thought you might like to know your assumption was wrong.

Of the 830 posts in this comment section, 118 come from one disaffected Mormon and 49 come from another. That's nearly 20% of the comments under this story. From two people! Maybe there is some truth to the old adage: "They leave the Church but they can't leave it alone." LMTAO.

I, for one, simply enjoy exposing the LDS church as the fraudulent Scam that it has always been. I know that probably gets your little priesthooder feelings upset...but you'll just have to learn to live with it....

I just don't get the negativity --- whether someone is Muslim, Mormon, gay, whatever -- they are who they are.

If someone feels a need to fight against something, that says a lot about that person, and nothing at all about who or what they're fighting against.

Fighting against Islam, Mormonism or homosexuality is much like fighting against the ocean -- all of those groups are here to stay.

I know at least a few people in each of those groups, and can't think of anyone, in any of those groups, who is not just a regular person.

I don't get what all the fuss is about, other than: some people obviously can't let go, and naively believe their negative rants will have an effect, and/or they really want others to hate the given group, so they promote things about the group that aren't true, and some people believe them -- and the noise level raises for a little while.

Then, people figure out that Muslims, Mormons, gay people; whoever ... are just people.

And yes, I'm well aware of the Mormon church's role in California's Prop 8; I'm referencing Mormons and gay people in the same breath to highlight what I'm saying: blanket prejudice never applies to any large group; there's always a big range of attitude that prejudice can't account for, no matter in which direction it's target.

And, by the way, I'm not Mormon, or Muslim, or gay; just a prejudice-averse, pro-fact American.

Mormons DO believe that they'll become GODS. It's a core doctrine of Mormonism....though they don't like to talk about it anymore....especially publicly.

You should stop "lying for the Lord".....

You don't seem to know your Mormon doctrine. We don't believe we just fly up. That's more like the "rapture" believed by Christian Fundamentalists. You're kind of skipping the whole "Christ's millennial reign" and the horrific and difficult events leading up the the second coming. The latter doctrine is the key basis for the Mormon practice of food storage (that and being prepared for unemployment and natural disasters).
08:24 PM on 07/04/2011
You know I have a hard time thinking of a natural disaster that makes a food storage practical. Flood? Hurricane? Tornado? Earthquake? Odds are if you're that strongly affected by it you probably lost the house and by extension... the food storage too. A case that'd be really good for a food storage though would be a pandemic since that could let you limit outside interaction.

Comment from a Mormon who is a Democrat: Probably the most accurate and fact-based, non-sensationalized presentation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) that I have ever seen. Kudos to the quiz author and editor.

Side comment for catmandoozy - I have a question for any Mormon who is a Tea Party member: How can you be a good Mormon when we all know that we are to abstain from tea? :>)

"Good" Mormons do not drink tea....that would keep them from returning to the presence of JC. (apparently, he is very anti-tea).

They will join the "Anti-Black-Democrat-Who-Was-Elected-As-POTUS-By-The-U.S.-Citizenry" TeaBAGGER Brigade though. Apparently, the black Democrat is even scarier than tea to the Mormon version of "god"........

I think the "Constitution hangs by a thread and the Elders will save it" prophecy is one of the most misinterpreted (by Mormons) ever. More likely there will be a coup attempt and the Mormons in the U.S. military (10% of the military is Mormon) will stay loyal to the country, the President, and the Constitution by fighting to put the coup down. No Mormon is ever going to be POTUS.
11:19 PM on 06/25/2011
Okay guys, this is my last response, I promise. Yes I am 20 years old, who isn't exactly the best in the church. However, I have felt the truths of this church and will NEVER deny it's truthfulness. Whatever you may think of me, do not persecute me for my beliefs. The reasons I went out and posted all these things is because I love my church and will never deny it or turn it away. One thing that everybody who does this will find, no matter what religion, is that when you get closer to God, your life is happier. Do not look down upon me for choosing this church over others. I do not know most of the fact, well, cause I don't pay attention to much. Sorry for bothering all of you with your time.

Well, good for you....as long as you recognize that you use feelings over facts to come to your conclusions. You're very young and naive'.... and stunningly uninformed about Mormonism...so I'll just give you a word of unsolicited advice: Do not use feelings over facts in other decisions in your life. It will invariably lead to disaster.

Criticism is not persecution. Your pretended persecution does not enhance others' view of your beliefs or your reputation....quite the opposite. Also.....never say NEVER.

Good luck to you....you'll need it.

I've read many of your posts and you know very little of the LDS Church. It's one thing for a young person to spend a good amount of time defending his faith but it is just pathetic to spend so much time tearing another faith down. Get a life, get religion, get more accurate information.

No one is persecuting you. But your church, and possibly you, are doing a lot to persecute others.

These actions of the last couple of years are really waking people up to the true agenda of the Mormon church, as a political entity.

Those who are attacking LDS beliefs and religious practices are persecuting the Mormon Church. They are doing so through misrepresentation, ridicule, and ignorance. Is the Catholic Church and the Black churches in CA nothing but political entities, If it were not for their vocal support and votes Proposition 8 would have never passed, yet it is the LDS Church (making up just 2% of the state's population) gets the brunt of all the attacks. Why?

After Prop 8 was passed I don't recall any politically motivated vandalism perpetrated by any Latter-day Saints but it was the other way around. Those cases of vandalism (like swastikas on Church building) is actual physical persecution.
