A 1-year-old boy was found safe in the back seat of his mother's car Thursday, after carjackers held the woman up at gunpoint and drove off with her child inside.
The incident occurred about 4:30 a.m. Thursday in the 7100 block of South Calumet Avenue, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
"They kicked us out of the car and drove off with the car," the boy's mother, Angela Moffett, told the Chicago Tribune.
Moffett had reportedly just finished work at an Old Country Buffet and was on her way home when the incident occurred, with her son sleeping in back.
Police found the vehicle about two blocks away from where it was stolen, with the baby inside. Officers told the Tribune they believe the carjackers ditched the vehicle after discovering the baby.
No arrests had been made as of 11 a.m. Thursday.
