Tinley Park, IL Patch:

Thousands of people came out to hear a former crystal meth addict turned Christian tell his story.

Brain Welch, more commonly known by his nickname "Head," was at Parkview Christian Church Saturday and Sunday for an on-stage talk with Pastor Tim Harlow. Welch, a founder of the metal band Korn, struggled to overcome a crystal meth, prescription drug and alcohol addiction while part of the band. He now flies solo in his music career, but is not alone. According to Welch, he has found Jesus and has him by his side.

It's great that he is off drugs. We have seen this thousands of times where a person spends years doing drugs than, usually in some rehab facility, the religious get their hooks in him when he is at his most venerable.

The fact is that he did not need a belief in the supernatural to get clean. He just needed a good support system, a positive role model, and to be removed from the drug environment.

Sure, it's great he's off drugs; too bad he's all messed up on religion.

Trading one addiction for another is not healthy. He is not cured.

So let me get this straight, to get off of drugs, you need to become a born again? This guy is nuts. I have known many people in my life who have done just this with out turning into bible thumpers. Give up one crutch and replace it with another

I find it interesting that so many non-Christians, and clearly haters of the Christian faith on this board seemingly and with purposeful intent, seek out articles specifically pertaining to Christians. They then proceed to bash their beliefs, belittle and degrade the believers and the Bible, all while using the same tiresome rhetoric. It seems all too obvious that their intent is merely to incite an argument to which no manner of reply will bring both to a civil understanding. They use the Bible in a poor attempt to counter what they disagree with and often don’t even believe in, thinking it will somehow bring a revelation to Christians. And yet, by grossly misquoting the Bible, they instead reveal their lack of knowledge or understanding of the book. In fact it is clear that many have never even read Bible and yet they blather out, parroting sound bytes when it is obvious they have no context or reference as to what it actual says and means. Perhaps the same people troll other religious articles about the Muslim faith, Hindu, Buddhist and display the same belittling attitude. I doubt it though. And for Christians to engage them by quoting scriptures is pointless. The Bible means little to them, just a collection of fairytales and myths. And yet, I find it ironic that they feel compelled to seek out Christian articles to discuss matters of a faith that they don’t even believe in.

Beautifully written - the Truth hurts those who oppose it and they often retaliate in small minded, demeaning ways. Keep them in your prayers. Thanks! Veritas.

As long as it works for him it doesn't matter what the rest of us think. It does make good fodder for posting comments.
