Tsa Elderly Woman

AOL Travel News:

The TSA has another PR nightmare on its hands: Security officers at Florida's Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport patted down a cancer-stricken, 95-year -old woman and forcibly removed her adult diaper during the search, CNN reports.

Jean Weber was traveling with her ill mother on June 18 from Florida to Michigan to see relatives "in the final stages of her battle with leukemia" when the incident occurred. Weber told CNN that while she thinks the officers may have been "procedurally correct...the procedure needs to be changed." Weber noted that her mother had had a blood transfusion the week before.

Why did the daughter WANT to send her frail mother on a plane with a SOILED diaper? Seems to me the daughter isnt a very good care giver if she was offended that she had to change her mothers diaper and worse, she didnt have a spare?
REALLY! The problem wasnt with TSA but with an uncaring daugher. I would be mortified if my loved one had a soiled diaper and I didnt bother to bring a spare.

Armstrong Adult Diapers is giving a Free Case of Adult Diapers to anyone over 65 undergoing a TSA pat down while wearing Adult Diapers.

Meanwhile an illegal Nigerian with a bogus University of Michigan I.D. and NO PASSPORT waltzed past security at JFK and boarded a Virgin America flight with a boarding pass for a prior flight!

We're all nuts to trust the TSA with our lives.

If the diaper had been on her head, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

What is wrong with the people in this country anymore? I think everybody has totally lost their minds! This all goes back to the Bush scare tactic era of convincing everyone that there was a terrorist on every corner and the mentality sure hasn't changed much!

But heightened citizen awareness that HAS helped avert terrorism more than once.

Unfortunately the TSA obviously doesn't understand the bottom line of their mission when they're giving a 95 year old the third degree while allowing an illegal Nigerian to go through and actually board a flight without a valid boarding pass.

At least they're not racial profiling here. They're darned if they do and darned if they don't.

Is it ironic in our quest to ensure the skies are free from drama and sudden terrorism activity that we are now more than ever as a populace subjected to more on ground terrorism than anyone could have logically reasoned before the TSA was introduced to an unsuspecting public.

This is not just another PR nightmare for the TSA....TSA is the nightmare. Their self-righteousness is obscene. TSA works for us and needs to understand that. Fix TSA or eliminate it (it worked better before they showed up).

How much longer are we going to put up with this absurd behavior? Sad to say, the person who is thinking up these ridiculous TSA procedures is probably making upwards of $300k, plus benefits, of taxpayer money.

Suffering with terminal cancer and presently on a brutal chemotherapy regime, I have worn an adult brief while flying...most for piece of mind than need. That said....I would LOVE to have TSA make me remove it........I would most certainly try my best to give them a "day to remember"......"Janitor to security, stat".....;-)

I am sorry that you are going through such a hard fight for your life. You should be treated with more respect and sensitivity - something the TSA is wholly without.

TSA’s latest initiative lured an eager celebrity to sign up for duty. SHOCKING story at: http://spnheadlines.blogspot.com/2010/03/faa-tiger-will-work-airport-security_19.html

I believe they made the old lady feel like she had to take it off. If I was her I would have flung it at them. I had one TSA Agent @ LAX nearly pull my pants down in public. No belt, track pants - don't even have pockets! It seems like now if you don't go through the scanner you get punished by be sexually assaulted in public. It happens about twice a week to me. HATE traveling for work this much. It is a hassle, and it is very unsettling. Seems like i am getting more action form the TSA then I am from my husband. And it ain't thrilling.

So I pose the question out there to all you fellow HuffPosters.....Why is it that Muslim women are allowed to be modest, but American aren't?

My body is for my husband and my doctor the rest of the work can take a flying leap - literally. If I don't go thru the scanner and allow my 4th Amendment rights to be virtually violated, then I must be a puritanical prude. NOT!

After all it isn't like any of this makes us any safer. I am so sick of the BS, and the lack of anything other then scripted "sensitivity".

How inconsiderate is it for a person who did a number in their drawers to expect the other passengers on the plane to enjoy the aroma?
