Ryan Cleary, Teen Hacking Suspect, Released On Bail In U.K.

Ryan Cleary Hacker

06/27/11 12:56 PM ET   AP

LONDON -- A teenager accused of attacking a string of U.K.-based websites has been released on bail.

Nineteen-year-old Ryan Cleary was released Monday on condition that he obey a curfew, wear an electronic tag and only leave the house accompanied by one of his parents.

He's not allowed to access the Internet.

Cleary was arrested last week following a joint Scotland Yard-FBI investigation into cyberattacks claimed by Anonymous and a smaller spinoff group, Lulz Security.

The reclusive teen is charged with creating a network of remotely-controlled computers – known as a botnet – to overwhelm target sites with traffic.

Cleary has been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism, since his arrest.

So how exactly is house arrest punishment for a recluse? And how many minutes after he arrived home before he was back online do you think? 2? 3? Just enough time to hit the john.

That's not the punishment. Not allowing access to the internet is the punishment.

I don't know why they are releasing this culture damaging terrorist. Thats right...these hackers are ruining our culture. So many people today live in fear of identity theft, account break-ins, outright destruction of our most private data. I think it time to punnish criminals, punnish them as they deserve.

"Thats right...these hackers are ruining our culture. "

LOL! True! Furthermore, I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Have you ever tried to secure an IT network? Probably not. You have to protect against infinite unknowns, while the hacker only has one focus at the moment. Remove head from sand, please.

Everyone of you are pro-government why?? this government doesn't care about me or you this group of young people are trying to expose corruption and start a revolution and you people are tearing them down. When Wall St. committed criminal acts for their own selfish interest was you not angry that the government for all the money you lost??? this government is no good Wikileaks proved that as well but I guess as liberals your too brainwashed to comprehend the damage this government has done to your lives wait until it becomes like Greece.

If he's like my teens, being banned from the internet will be punishment enough.

Hackers and identity thieves deserve a special kind of punishment... one that folks just never get over.

How is a hacker the same as an identity thief?

They both can cause tremendous harm of a very personal nature. They are often remote so that it is very hard to find out "who" and they are both relatively new criminal paradigms. Hackers have caused incalculable damage since they started up 20+ years ago and like the assault from the big banks; everyone pays. By hacker, I am referring to people engaged in crap like the twerp in this article to data thieves and malware writers. The Internet is the greatest creation in our generation and these folks are out to destroy it.

Why does he have n1pplez on his chin?

In all seriousness, unfortunitely this guy has some major medical/psycological issues.

I hope this guy obtains the help that will be benificial to his needs.

I mean, how sad is it to want to commit su1cıdⒺ at age 10?

Interesting how so many techno-smart I.T. types have Asperger's Syndrome.
Let's hope a little 'slam-time' will wipe that smug smirk off his face.

this is it? this is the nerd that brouht down sony and the CIA?
04:49 PM on 06/27/2011
No, he was once a "leader" at the collective "anonymous", who then leaked details of all of the IRC chat clients, and then was ousted from the group himself. He is kind of infamous. Lulzsec did the CIA (ddos), and the sony network thing was linked to some kids in Italy (I heard also Singapore).

If I was arrested and in his situation, I would act autistic too.
03:38 PM on 06/27/2011
You know, having autism is not a cool thing, and I wish that all of the wannabe hackers (DDOS kids) and CS folks get off of this kick where they think it is "cool" to be autistic. It is a disorder that you cannot self-diagnose, and you can be a great software/computer engineer/scientist without it. I know it is a weird rant, but I had to get it off of my chest.

Also, know that i have an autistic (asbergers) friend, and he never talks about it, he just lives his life!

Interesting to see this guys face... the only thing I had ever heard/read about him was his place of residence, phone number, ip address, email address, sibling and family member details.... anonymous DOES NOT like this guy (he flipped on 'em apparently)
