Cubs Fan Returns Miguel Tejada's Home Run Ball With Amazing Throw (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/29/11 01:45 PM ET Updated: 08/29/11 06:12 AM ET

It's a widely known tradition to throw the home run ball back if someone from the visiting team hits it out of the park. On Tuesday, a Chicago Cubs fan made an unbelievable throw and literally returned the ball to the man who crushed it.

In the ninth inning of San Francisco's 13-7 victory over Chicago at Wrigley Field, Miguel Tejada hit a solo home run to the left field stands. The Cubs fan made a beautiful catch (without a glove) and immediately launched the ball back on to the field.

The ball traveled to the infield and trickled over to the Giants dugout, where Aubrey Huff was standing. Huff knocked the ball backwards to Cody Ross, who handed it to Tejada who had just crossed home plate. Great timing!

Scroll down to watch the ridiculous throw!

The throw was neither absurd or ridiculous. Out of all the words in the English language, these are what you came up with?

Soooo the fan is elevated 25 feet throwing downhill and barely makes it to edge of infield and they call that a good throw??? Who were those broadcasters and have they ever watched baseball before lol

For a fan? Hell, yes, that was a good throw. A pro-player at the wall is still going to have to hit an infield cutoff man. From the wall to the infield is 250+ feet.

Assuming he's throwing it 45 degrees in the air as hard as he can (which is the way you maximize distance) it will reach its maximum height 2/3 of the way and be falling at a 60 degree angle or so at the end. That means his 25-foot elevation advantage at the start is only going to add 12.5 feet horizontal distance at the end.

Not such a great advantage.

DocEagle rocks. All the sports dropouts and athlete want-to-be's also don't realize that he threw it flat footed with no wind-up. All these other folks are probably the parents who complain their kid isn't playing the position he wants to play or bat in the lineup hwere they want to bat and scream at the coaches who coach for free and for the kids.

People are pathetic.

I forgive your for your naivete.

the catch was equally "absurd". Megan Fox looks absurd. I wanna drive a Bugatti, they are "absurd" cars.

Someone with some knowledge of the game should write these articles. Many things could be said about this throw, but it was not "ridiculous".

Henry Rowingardner! Looks like we have a real life rookie of the year.

But the real question is, why do people keep paying their hard earned money to go to see this garbage team play?

"If you think that the guys catch and throw was "impressive" you americans have got to start learning cricket."

Sorry, mate... we used to play cricket quite a lot. The last time we meet you were rather roundly thrashed and you went into an epic pout. Chin up, chum.
Three cheers for the old Yorktown Yankees!
