Aisha Gaddafi, Muammar Gaddafi's Daughter: Libya Government In Talks With Rebels

PARIS — The daughter of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi says both direct and indirect negotiations are being held between her father's authorities and Libyan rebels.

Aicha Gadhafi didn't elaborate during the France-2 network interview aired on French television Thursday night.

But she added to end the spilling of Libyan blood "we are ready to ally ourselves with the devil, with the rebel army."

During the translated interview filmed in a Tripoli hotel Aicha Gadhafi said her father remains "strong" and cannot leave the land where he is "a symbol, a guide."

Gadhafi's only daughter, in her mid-30s, held back tears when speaking of France's role in the NATO bombing campaign.

Aicha Gadhafi studied in France and said she had lost a daughter and brother in the bombings.

Air Force and Navy aircraft are still flying hundreds of strike missions over Libya despite the Obama administration’s claim that American forces are playing only a limited support role in the NATO operation.

An Africa Command (AFRICOM) spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday that since NATO’s Operation Unified Protector (OUP) took over from the American-led Operation Odyssey Dawn on March 31, the U.S. military has flown hundreds of strike sorties.

Libya was doing O.K. but its oil is coveted by France and U.K.and US companies. We have no idea who the Rebels are but the likelihood is that they will turn Libya into an Islamist state just as the invasion of Iraq has resulted in that country being controlled by Shia Islam mullahs. Women in Libya are currently not under the thumb of Islamist religious police as far as dress and daily life are concerned. They can drive cars and not wear veils but wear regular clothing like western women. That will change. The greed of the western powers is what is driving this UK, France and US war one sided war on Libya without which the country's civilians would not be suffering as much as they now are due to NATO bombing..

It's sad that anybody has to loose their family due to bombing even if it's Qaddafi's family. All the more reason for this madness to end as fast as possible.

If NATO and American hadn't interfered, either the rebels would have been wiped out or Gaddafi would have been wiped out, now its a bloody stalemate costing thousands of innocent lives and prolonging misery.

Europe and NATO need to understand than often the path to democracy is built from failure and disaster. We have to let these come to pass if only so that future Libyan rebels will become more united, more resolute and develop a better understanding of what they are fighting for and what they are fighting against and at what cost.

Human beings are very resilient and very capable creatures, no matter where they are and in the end if change is really in their hearts, it will manifest itself. Take any great freedom struggle - America, India, South Africa, Egypt, etc. Our problem is we underestimate the passion for freedom and capability from those we consider "down trodden" but in fact their strength and resilience will leave us in awe.
