Far be it for us to second guess a true American artist, but it sometimes seems like director Michael Bay has it out for everything beautiful or interesting ever created by mankind. In "Transformers III: Dark of the Moon," he has taken a page out of Christopher Nolan and Al Capone's co-written book and destroyed Chicago. Oh well, no one was using it anyway.
Still, every time we find out he's been brought on to direct another film about Hasbro toys, we get the same feeling an ant must have when a little boy with a magnifying glass wanders past. The feeling is not foreboding exactly, something closer to acceptance. It is Michael Bay's world, we just live in it.
