Olbermann's Swipe At MSNBC's Ratings

Keith Olbermann

First Posted: 06/30/11 10:56 AM ET Updated: 08/30/11 06:12 AM ET

Keith Olbermann took to Twitter on Tuesday to gleefully point out that MSNBC's ratings in his old timeslot are down.

The ratings for the second quarter of 2011 were released on Tuesday, and Olbermann did not let the fact that MSNBC's ratings had slipped a bit at 8 PM go unnoticed. Lawrence O'Donnell is now the host of the 8 PM show on Olbermann's former network.

"Presented without comment: http://j.mp/jNN45L A certain cable news operation down 12% at 8 pm from 2nd Quarter 2010," Olbermann wrote.

MSNBC's overall ratings were up from its 2010 ratings.

I happen to like Lawrence O'Donnell a lot but I would take Keith back in a heartbeat. It's very disappointing that my cable provider, massive conglomo-ration Cablevision doesn't have the wherewithal to offer Currents to its subscibers.

C'mon Keith, you're better than that.

He already lost 2/3 of his 25-54 viewership in one week. What a mess.

You mean 2/3 of his MSNBC audience, or 2/3 of the audience he started with at Current TV on June 20?

Current TV audience. "Not panicking, though." Yeeeeeah, about that....

MSNBC's turn to the right is not helping their rating either. The have good talent there with Ed Schultz,Rachel Maddow,Chris Matthews(excellent by the way) and others, but the network as a whole seems to have lost it's way.You don't do not lose a voice like Olbermann and expect youe ratings to go up.More of Chris and Ed less of the move to the right, and rating will go up.Olbermann is brilliant and has not lost a step on his new gig.

Turn to the right? Are they going to hire Lonesome Rhodes Beck? Your delusional.

What do you call the hiring of Michael Steele?A turn to the left?

Considering that Olbermann basically singlehandedly established MSNBC into any relevancy in the first place. Excluding Chris Matthews, where did O'Donnell, Maddow, Schultz, et al even get on to TV as lowly commentators? Countdown with Keith Olbermann. And he was kicked out right after the Comcast deal was done. As Comcast screamed 'Jump!' at MSNBC, and MSNBC jumped without even asking how high. So, I think he has justification to be bitter for awhile. If this continues to happen like seven months from now then it's cringe-worthy but for now it is righteous.

Really disappointed in Olbermann's childish tweets. Used to think he was above petty tantrums and taunts. Very unprofessional.

Sorry, Keith, you're losing me, or maybe more accurately, you lost me.

"Childish" to point out that your replacement isn't doing as well as you did? Doesn't seem childish to me, at all.

I guess that's what makes a forum - different opinions. I hope you continue to enjoy him; I've just lost some respect for his professionalism. Maybe that'll fade with time and I'll return, but for now I'll abstain.

Olbermann is showing that he is can be as petty and self involved as those he regularly dresses down. If you're going to talk the talk then you have to walk the walk. What are you Keith, 12?
