'The Three Musketeers' Trailer Promises Action, Orlando Bloom's Awesome Hair (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/30/11 03:02 PM ET Updated: 08/30/11 06:12 AM ET

One for all, and all for Orlando Bloom's mustache and pompadour.

Okay, that's not the way the famous creed goes, but it's hard not to get excited over Bloom's fantastic costuming for Paul W.S. Anderson's new adaptation of the classic Alexandre Dumas story, "The Three Musketeers." Even if Bloom is a baddie.

Logan Lerman stars as D'Artagnan, the young swashbuckler who seeks out adventure in Paris and earns his way into the Musketeer trio of Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson. Playing Cardinal Richlieu is the delightfully evil Christoph Waltz, while Bloom takes on Buckingham and his fantastic zeppelin war machines.

The film hits theaters October 21st -- click here to see the film's first trailer.

A bunch of total unknowns… why on Earth would they even bother making this movie? I won’t be watching it even on dvd. Feel sorry that Christoph Waltz got dragged into this… he deserves better http://bit.ly/kWKV5d

How many versions of that novel are they going to make?

IMHO, a better headline would've read: 'Orlando Bloom's amazing pubic hair and testicles.'

Orlando Bloom's been a villain to me ever since he stole Miranda Kerr from me.

Does anyone else have a problem with the way this trailer is put together? I'm having a really hard time picking out the actors because the scenes are so short. I felt like I was about to have a seizure!

I like most of the actors in it, the costumes look lovely as do the sets/location. I'm intrigued by the sword fighting, but the storyline they've created leaves me cold.

I'll probably see it, though, since I'm a fan of the books...

The Three Musketeers is my all-time favorite book. It's been filmed so often, I don't mind versions that have little to do with the novel.

However, I'm not sure I'm ready for a steampunk version.

Steampunk. That's a perfect description.

What'd you think of the wuxia-influenced one featuring the guy who plays Karev on Grey's Anatomy as D'Artagnan?

It was a little too obviously inspired by "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" for my taste.

I love the Lester films and the Disney movie with Keifer and Charlie was a lot of fun but my favorite adaption is still the Douglas Fairbanks silent version.

Fairbanks was the ultimate swashbuckling movie star.

Good lord, how many more versions of this movie are they going to make? I was always partial to the Oliver Reed\Michael York\Christopher Lee\Charlton Heston one...

Three Musketeers and Four Musketeers. Best adaptation of the books out there, IMHO. I thought they captured the spirit of the books very well.

Did you see The Return of the Musketeers? Came out about 15 years later. It was an attempt to adapt the second novel, Twenty Years After. Same director, same cast, none of the magic. I mean zero. It was embarrassing.
