Shia LaBeouf: 'Transformers 3' Will Be My Last

MOSCOW — Shia LaBeouf's days of battling the Decepticons look to be over, with the Transformers star saying he has nothing more to offer after three films playing kid-next-door Sam Witwicky.

The 26-year-old American actor said he was through with the action-packed franchise.

"I'm done," he told The Associated Press at the recent opening of "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" at the Moscow International Film Festival. " I'm sure they will make more of them. It's still a very hot franchise."

He added "I love making them (the movies). I love the crew. I love Michael (Bay). I love the cast. I love Sam ... but I don't have anything new to contribute and I don't think there's anywhere to take Sam really."

LeBeouf's nerdy character helped one alien race of robots, the Transformers, overpower another race, the evil Decepticons, with Earth as the battleground.

Directed by Michael Bay, "Transformers 3" also stars Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Paramount Pictures said the movie earned $37.3 million Wednesday in the U.S. on its first day – a 40 percent drop from its predecessor, "Revenge of the Fallen."

LaBeouf explained Witwicky's role in the latest movie.

"Nobody really cares about Sam anymore. He has no purpose. He saved the world twice and has sort of been thrown to the side. This is a dude who used to validate himself on his involvement with these robots, (but) these robots no longer need him," he said in the AP interview. "This is like the most broken Sam's ever been in the three movies ... and he sort of builds himself up through the course of the film."

In addition to the Transformers series, the talented actor also starred in the 2010 film "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," "Eagle Eye" in 2008 and "Disturbia" in 2007.

The Transformers trilogy was based on the cartoons of 1980s that were themselves inspired by the Marvel Comics comic book of the same name.

This guy actually seems to have a personality. I hope he pulls something outrageous and blasphemous the way Charlie Sheen did!

As someone who grew up watching transformer cartoons in the 80's i liked the idea of a transformers movie but did not like the idea of a transformers movie targeting 10 year olds as the target market audience. The movies were a little to disney for my taste.

I imagine you were 10 when you watched Transformers. You should grow up and not expect Transformers or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to grow with you.

Don't wanna break his heart, but iras "done wit it" not long after the credits on the first one ..... Shallow excuse for a huge CGI budget ... Atleast "Avatar" took "Fern Gully" and did it right ...

Better yet, when can we be done with Shia?

I liked the movies but why is it that every movie now has to have sexy women showing their assets, I had much rather see optimus primes undercarriage. Would be alot better if it was just about the TRANSFORMERS. They are cool.

Giant robots, explosions and supermodels are the very reasons 3-D was invented.
Whether of not Mr. LaBeouf is present is immaterial.

Nobody sees Transformers to find the beef.

Mr. Bay's huge error was himself. Why cant Hollywood understand the cool part of Transformers is the Transformers! It doesnt need any human characters.

Mr. Bay's huge error was not having Megan Fox continue as Sam's girlfriend. The new girlfriend was taller than Sam, she looked older than Sam, and I did not believe the relationship. Mr. Bay let his personal feelings about Megan Fox get in the way of making T3. It was obvious in scenes discussing Sam's previous girlfriend - all the negative comments. Mr. Bay, you allowed your personal feelings to get in the way and it showed big time!

Megan Fox can't act, though, and there was a high risk of her killing people with her thumbs.

That whole relationship to begin with was unbelievable. Fox is fap material to a lot of non-thumbsian people, though, so she'll always be in another movie.

Well there are no plans announced for transformers 4 anyway and this third movie can provide a good conclusion for the franchise; by the way this last release is good for the improved action sequences and the addition of good comedians with a better screenplay, certainly Michael Bay redeem himself of Transformers 2.

Since when did Transformers have comedy? All 3 of the movies are terrible.

I am not sure you watched the movie yet but Ken Jeong was terrific and the battle of Chicago scenes with the wingsuit action sequences were really impressive, of course you cannot expect a good plot or Oscar worthy acting in a Michael Bay Movie but the visuals are without a doubt spectacular.

S**t the Beef doesn't really have any acting skills. So I rate his statement as good for everyone.

Michael BOO is a horrible film maker.

The Island was the only good thing he ever made, only because the concept was good.
