'The Daily Show' Is First To Beat Leno In Demo Ratings In Ten Years

Jon Stewart's Historic Win

'The Daily Show' reached a new milestone in the second quarter of the 2011 ratings: it became the first late-night show to beat "The Tonight Show" in the coveted 18-49 demographic in a staggering ten years.

Jon Stewart's show averaged 1.295 million viewers. Jay Leno drew 1.292 million viewers--the first time in 40 ratings quarters that his show (or its Conan O'Brien incarnation) has not won in the category. (NBC immediately disputed the figures, but Comedy Central is standing by its calculation.)

Overall, 2.2 million viewers tuned into "The Daily Show" for the quarter.
