Casey Anthony Poll: 50 Percent Think She Is 'Not Guilty' Of Murder

ORLANDO, Fla. -- An informal survey conducted by The Huffington Post shows that only 50 percent of respondents believe Casey Anthony is guilty of murder in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee.

As of Monday afternoon, more than 13,000 votes had been cast in the ongoing thirteenth juror poll. Of the voters, 49.97 percent expressed the opinion that Anthony is guilty of murder. Another 30.61 percent think she is only guilty of a lesser charge, and 19.42 percent think she is not guilty of any crime.

Anthony, 25, is accused of multiple charges, including capital murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child and misleading law enforcement in the death of her daughter. The prosecution is seeking the death penalty.

The marathon trial -- 33 days of testimony, 400 pieces of evidence and more than 90 witnesses -- ended last week, and the defense completed its closing arguments Sunday evening. The prosecution is wrapped up the case with its rebuttal Monday. The jury is now deciding Anthony's fate.

Looking at your numbers, that translates to 80% thinking she is guilty of Caylee's demise.....some just favor manslaughter over 1st degree murder. Strong for guilt on a liberal website says alot.

Post after post, people are judging her on thier emotions. Cases aren't judged on emotions, they are judged on facts. You say that the defense lawyers lied, how do you know? "Feeling it in your gut" is emotions, not based on facts, so the lawyers didn't nesseccarily mean that facts were proven.

Waiting 31 days to report her child missing shows that she is not a responible mother, but it doesn't show that she murdered her child.

Stating that the 50% believing that she guilty were the ones following the case, is assuming this. You can't assume anything of anyone, because you don't know what is going on in thier head.

Facts are facts, you can't judge, while on a jury, with your emotions. They have to be left at the courthouse door till the end of the trial.

The defense did lie, their opening statement was never proven and basing it on your world, they had no facts. That's why the judge threw it out and told Baez he couldn't bring it up in his closing statement. I'm really shocked by your statement. What parent waits 31 days before they report their child missing? and according to your world, " that's just not a responsible parent"? wow! you got kids? Missing? Caylee wasn't missing, Casey knew where she was. Casey avoided the people that were closest to her daughter and who would be asking her where she was, for 31 days. She didn't wait 31 days to report her child missing, her lies caught up with her after 31 days, it was her mother that reported her child missing not her.

Exactly, there have been many polls and the last one had her 77 per cent guilty....this woman will be in the news again....the psychiatrist who examined her for the trial said she was just "immature"......I think she is alot more than "immature"!! She has huge issues even her defense atty's stated this and if you don't think murder she is absolutely complict in Caylee's death!!! I don't think she has alot of her "party friends" left, so my guess is she will head to Puerto Rico where Jose's relatives are....let's see how long they want to deal with her!

Was also reading about the psychiatrist who examined her for competency and has been on the news.... Dr. Harry Krop, reprimanded and fined by Florida Psychiatric Assoc., it stands to reason that he has gone on the tv and diagnosised Casey as "immature"....what an understatement!!

Not guilty does not mean innocent. You have to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, otherwise the accused is not guilty. That does not mean they are innocent. Some states allow a judicial finding of innocence but that will not happen here.
We have lived with this system for over 200 years. By in large, it is a good system although there are mistakes. If you want to see more mistakes, go to any number of other countries who do not believe their people can make decisions like the jury did here. These countries have no respect for their own people to run their government. At least here, we sometimes do.

I AM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE HOW WE AMERICAN ANALYZE POLITICS,CRIME,POLITICIANS,THE ECONOMY AND CONSEQUENCES IN GENERAL OF WHAT OUR GOVERNMENT DOES,MEANS AND WHAT IS JUST PLAIN RIGHT OR WRONG. WE ARE IN TROUBLE OR THESE POLLS ARE ONLY HITTING THE DUMBEST SECTION OF THE POPULATION. WHERE ARE THESE PEOPLES MINDS OR ARE THEY GUILTY THEMSELVES OR JUST PLAIN DUMB. WE ARE IN A SAD SITUATION IF THESE POLLS ARE ANYWHERE NEAR A REFLECTION OF THE GENERAL POPULATION.

It's the Salem "witch-hunt" mentality............tie her hands & feet and throw her in the lake (maybe tie some rocks on just for giggles!!!)...........if she floats, she's innocent.....oops, my bad. :o) People just prefer to believe the worst. How else can we put innocent people on death row. (I think the count is 86 times now...& that's just the ones that have gotten the DNA evidence proving them INNOCENT....not JUST "Not Guilty") You think people plea bargain because of "Innocent until proven BROKE(?)" It's FEAR of corrupt prosecutors and the police that are here "to protect & serve." Hah!!! What a (bad) joke...........I only laugh to keep from crying.

I guess it is just me, but I go a little crazy when I hear people say she is "not guilty" of murder. The issue, I think, was she guilty of premeditated murder and I agree this was not proven. Premeditation is one of the hardest to prove. Basically you need a smoking gun that she either said she was planning the crime or they found pictures of her doing the crime etc. What then is she guilty of? Well let's see. Who was with the child 24/7 or at least responsible? Who used the car with the smell? Who did not report the child missing? Who lied about where the child was for 31 days? Who partied and tatood during the child being missing? Who lied about her whereabouts during the child missing and the grandmother asking to see Caylee? Who lied about the nanny? Where was the baby while she was shtooping her boyfriend? Why was the baby dumped by the roadside and who had control of her during the missing period?Circumstantial evidence is plenty good to convict of a crime when YOU KNOW A CRIME HAS BEEN COMMITTED! Look at the Scott Petersen trial where there was no evidence found in the home or DNA on the missing bodies in So Cal. The verdict could have been aggrivated assault or a lesser included offence to premeditated murder. This nuanced verdict was to intellectual for the jury to consider as they only wanted premeditated murder.

Yes, but you are using logic and common sense, which obviously some people lack.

I find it aggravating when people make comments like, "I think she did it, my gut tells me she did, I don't think she is innocent, BUT, the prosecution didn't prove it." WHAT? If your gut tells you she did it, then something the Prosecutions showed, said, demonstrated, or some piece of evidence made you feel that way, THEREFORE they did prove it.

If they didn't convince you then you would say I thought she was INNOCENT, but these jurors lack common sense.

I have to agree with you. I'm convinced that she did kill her daughter. Who hides the death for 31 days. Then tells an elaborate lie about a fictious nanny. If it had been an accident in the family pool aren't paramedics the logical next step, not hiding the body. And how in the world was her body found with items from her home if she or no member of her family were involved? This all sticks to high heaven. I think this woman got away with murder--for now.

Read the captians posted below the pictures above numbers 164-167.
I read a lot of the jailhouse letters, but of course, some were kept out for evidence. This though, is pretty incriminating itself.

Yea that evidence not allowed in though wasn't and never is important. One would not want to prejudice the jury or a person to suffer the consequences for their actions.

Obvious question: of the 50% who believe this young lady to be not guilty of murder, how many would, on a long term basis, permit or hire her to care for their little child? Too many questions remain unanswered, too much evidence pointing to wrong doing. What mother, grandfather, grandmother is capable of aiding their own child in a cover up. Is there a law in Florida against removal of a corpse, abuse of a corps or not reporting a death? The entire debacle of this finding by jurors is not the jury's fault but the prosecution. Still, how can this Casey Anthony be permitted to walk among us free?

If Grandma and Grandpa were involved ...why would they have such a fit after retreiving the care when it was impounded? They would never have called police and Grandpa and Grandma would never have talked about the car smelling like a dead body. It is assinine to think that George helped Casey or was involved in Caylee's death, that he let Casey run off to party wildly for the next 31 days, agreed with his wife that Casey and Caylee were in Orlando where Casey was working at Disneyland coordinating events, and then when the car pops up in impoundment agrees with Cindy and they call police and Casey still isn't cooperating with them ...nor the police. As a former police officer old George coulda thought of a better scheme than that...BUT you have to be able to reason...some people (jurorers) want tv facts and in essence are preparing for their roles in the media.

Excellent points well stated thanks... Only leaves more question to ponder in this regard - however the jury has rendered their verdict, the judgement rendered and our laws require we accept this finding even if it is difficult to fully respect. One thing, on a personal level I'd prefer to believe this young women totally innocent of any wrong doing where her baby daughters life is subject-her behavior --well that is a matter for further investigation into at least here thinking-her mental state..We will never know..

Are you kidding me??You all can't be in this much denial.Who killed her?/If she drowned why did she have tape around her head with a sticker all from her mothers house??Why did her mother wait a month if her family knew about it since day one?Why did the grandmother make the 911 call if she knew about it??Come on.That's like saying well I never saw any child get molested so that means it never happens or I never saw a murder so that means they don't happen.Face it she killed Caylee.Just like the OJ case they will never find anyone else who is guilty because it will always keep coming back to Casey.

there was know proof of child abuse. either it was murder or nothing.
where was there any proof she abused caylee there was none all videaos show she loved that little girl.
there was know direct evdince that was the prosectuions down fall. they speculated on what happend with out proof to what happend.
the majority of people that are so up set over thiis verdict can only speculate what happend
the mom and dad know what truly happend and now that there daughter can not go to prison they need to come forward and let the world know what happend.
because one way or another they either covered up an accident or coverd up the murder
and i belive it was an accident casey anotony is not smart enoug nor stupid enough to have killed her daughter on her own
