Denver Under Flash Flood Watch

Denver Under Flash Flood Watch

It may be sunny and clear skies currently in Denver, but the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for much of northeastern Colorado including, but not limited to, greater Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins areas.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are expected late this afternoon and into the evening. The stronger storms in the airmass passing over northeastern Colorado will be capable of producing rainfall rates of up to two inches per hour. There is also a potential for multiple storms to move over the same areas which could result in up to four inches of rain over a several hour period.

The threat of flooding appears greatest in areas along and north of Interstate 76 as well as burn areas and urban areas within the storm zone.

Flood watch remains in effect until 10PM Tuesday. Click here for a map of the areas expected to be hit by the approaching storms.
