Monkey Steals Camera, Takes Self-Portraits (VIDEO)

In what could be the epitome of monkey business, a crested black macaque in a national park in Indonesia stole a photographer's camera and snapped some very memorable self-portraits, including this one of a bemused photographer looking on.

UK-based wildlife photographer David Slater, 46, was following the endangered species for three days in a park north of the island of Sulawesi when one of the monkeys snatched his camera.

From The Guardian:

Slater said the photoshoot that resulted in these pictures took place after he set up a camera on a tripod. He left the equipment for a few moments and when he returned one of the creatures was, well, monkeying around with it.

"They were quite mischievous, jumping all over my equipment. One hit the button. The sound got his attention and he kept pressing it. At first it scared the rest of them away but they soon came back – it was amazing to watch.

By the time he was able to get his camera back, Slater said that the monkey had taken hundreds of photos.

And for those skeptics who think this might be a publicity stunt or hoax? The Guardian reports that Slater stands by his story, so we'll have to take the photographer at his word on this one.

He is now running in the GOP presidential candidate race. He is really disappointed by the competition, but says someone with a brain needs to be included. Fox News will be keeping us up to date on his results.

Omg Fox news makes me cringe. A reference to the Weiner scandal? Really? That happened like, 50 years ago and it wasn't all that exciting then. And the guy that refuses to believe it's even a monkey? Now THAT'S my kinda' christian - can always depend on them to take a drink.

And now the photographer David Slater is claiming the copyrights to the photo, but it has to be taken by a 'natural' person to be copyrightable. His lawyers are demanding the photos removal from websites.

Slater will ultimately lose his copyright claim.

Anyone want to represent the monkey?!?

I have been making replacement human teeth for a living for more than 30 years, and these teeth do not appear human to me.

It was all fun and games until I realized who was talking....The Douchey guy. Then....the fun was over. When I see these three idiots on a video I want to tear out the house foundations with my teeth. That is the extent by which these three cretins annoy me.

even the monkey can't believe these doofs evolved from him

Oh please, don't do this to me again! I thought at some point I was going to see some actual cute monkey shots, instead I feel violated having watched a FOX video. Excuse me, while I go take a shower.....

Okay, nice monkey picture, but why do I have to listen to that dope on Fox who cannot believe he sees a monkey but a human in make-up? He must have to say that for his base so they don't lose heart at how different man is from the animal kingdom, because if they did, they might start thinking about evolution and that might weaken Republican talking points about our absolute right to despoil the planet.

That's way better than some cellphone pics humans take of themselves.
