Nearly 200 People Dead As Refugee Boat Sinks ............

More fish food......... still doesn't put a dent in the 7,300,000,000 people smothering the earth into a painful greenhouse..

Cynically I reply to this tragedy with a memory of an Israeli strike on an accused terrorist in Sudan. One country invading anther's sovereignty and not a complaint from the world. Here we have a refugee ship in distress in an open see visible to the Saudis to the Israelis who have there spy satellites rotating up above. And no one went to save these refugees. Why!

We should provide more ways for black Africans to migrate to the Arab Middle East.
Hopefully that will result in reduction of Arab racism and lessen illegal immigration to Europe.

This is always sad, they overload the boats, to much weight on one side...

197 people die - report is exactly 43 words long...

Compare that with the Casey trial...

We have no idea regarding the meaning of "priorities" ...

A preponderance of articles in the newspaper and in on-line news tell of deaths: who died, how many died, how many were killed, how they died, how many blown up, etc. etc. etc. Is there a reason for this overwhelming morbidity? I don't WANT to hear about death all the time. I DON'T LIKE IT!

Right, I know, just read the comics...

Are you serious? The majority of news is celebrity gossip and sensationalist stories on Sarah Palin. This Sudan news is reality, deal with it.

Sorry that reality bites.

Best that you stick to the tabloids, and immerse yourself in the events involving Kim, Khloe, and that Spencer guy.....

Reuters suddenly covers a boat sink?

More people were killed in the Sudan in the ONE WEEK before the Libya war, due to ethnic affiliation, than were killed in one year by Gaddafi. You only get the news to serve corporate goals. I'm surprised a Sudan story made it through at all. Must be because 200 people sunk in a boat. That's event-style news worthy of coverage. Throats slit in villiages during Libya week don't penetrate the corporate blather.

Black Africans need to stop going to Arab countries.

True story...Arabs hate black people more than they hate the West.

I would exchange my life for the lives of those 200 if I could; and if it meant hopeful freedom for them. I've had a good life. This seems so wrong. ; ((

RIP

you could captain a boat and take the next batch of refugees over
12:30 AM on 07/06/2011
Slow down, you need a lot of STCW to move people.

Jeez, what a shame, and I'm sure they were on the way to America to live the American dream....for free.
05:18 PM on 07/05/2011
wow , its amazing that you guys think you're good people, you guys do an amazing job of spreading hate and creating terrorists , well i guess its more business and profit for your defense companies
05:35 PM on 07/05/2011
Create terrorists?? Ha! That leaky boat just saved us from having to deal with 200 more potential terrorists....
05:26 PM on 07/05/2011
Wow. Maybe you should actually work with refugees before you say something like that. I've been working with refugees in the States for four days and I can already see that they are some of the bravest and hardest working people I know.

Besides that, they don't "live for free." They have three months (at least in Georgia) to get it together, and for some that means learning English even though they have never held a pencil before. And they certainly don't live the American dream. They live in apartments, ride the bus, and have to take jobs in factories even if they had better jobs in their native countries.

And yet people like you wonder why the rest of the world looks at Americans with disdain...
05:30 PM on 07/05/2011
yeah, umm, they get like three minutes to live in Maine and then, english or not, it's hand-out city.....we're pretty sick of it here.
