Barack Obama Adoption Plans Revealed By His Father In 1961

President Barack Obama's father told federal immigration officials in 1961 that he planned to put his unborn son up for adoption, The Boston Globe reports.

Obama's father, Barack H. Obama, declared his intention while studying at the University of Hawaii during an interview with an immigration officer who had become concerned with Obama's "playboy ways."

The Globe relays the official's recollection of the April 12, 1961 conversation with the senior Obama.

"Subject got his USC wife 'Hapai' [Hawaiian for pregnant] and although they were married they do not live together and Miss Dunham is making arrangements with the Salvation Army to give the baby away,'' according to a memo describing the conversation with Obama written by Lyle H. Dahling, an administrator in the Honolulu office of what was then called the US Immigration and Naturalization Service.

The Globe's Sally Jacobs writes that there may have been a number of reasons that Ann Dunham, the president's mother, may have considered adoption, something that the president himself admitted in his memoir, "Dreams from My Father," but Dunham's friends and family have pushed back against claims that she ever intended to give up her child. Former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs also told Jacobs that President Obama was "absolutely convinced" that his mother hadn't spoken with the Salvation Army about taking him.

Jacobs writes extensively about the life of President Barack Obama's father in her upcoming book, "The Other Barack: The Bold and Reckless Life of President Obama's Father," to be published July 12.

Our President is what the American dream is all about. Someone who had the odds stacked against them and overcame them to become President. He learned from his father what NOT to do and decided to break that cycle. Obama 'married up' and decided to be an example to his children.
There's a long history of people who capitalize on the lowest common denominator of people's impulses, the intolerant republican party being one of them.

This story is political propoganda is the guise of news.

Those angry white people who feel like losers, resent a black man in the White House. It pains them to see a man of color who has sufficient intelligence to graduate with honors from a leading university and become a lawyer.They will repeat the most outlandish assertions in order to make themselves feel smarter and better.Whatever it takes, to serve their purpose of making the President look bad.Obama exemplifies everything we were ever taught about working hard to change your circumstances and practice American values.

The un-named un-seen forces that so cleverly planted the information about Obama's birth in newspapers around Hawaii way back when in order to conceal the fact of his foreign birth over 4 decades later... have now fabricated THIS story as a red herring to divert the attentions of the few remaining birthers from their dogged pursuit of that one piece of incontrovertible evidence that Obama is an alien. Don't fall for it loyal Birthers! Remain hunched over the long form birth certificate. Look at it closer and closer and closer. Smell it. Lick it! The truth is THERE!

Silly post. According to a writer of a recollection of an officer of a conversation that might have occured 50 years ago, Obama Sr. was considering adoption. But, so what? President Obama wasn't put up for adoption, and even if he was, and he was adopted, so what? Perhaps this is the next form "birtherism" will take ... they'll ask for the long form of non-adoption.
