Lehigh Acres, Fla. Cop Driving Golf Cart Arrests Fleeing Suspect Jeremiah Ellarius Haynes
A not-so-high-speed chase through a gated community ended when a sheriff's deputy driving a golf cart was able to catch a fleeing suspect who had stopped to rest.
Winded suspect Jeremiah Ellarius Haynes was arrested for battery Tuesday in Lehigh Acres, Fla., after running 1.8 miles away from a Lee County Sheriff's Deputy, the Fort Myers Press News reported.
The officer in pursuit closed in on Haynes after commandeering the electric vehicle from a resident of the gated community at the development's entrance.
Before getting behind the wheel of the cart, the deputy had already chased Haynes on foot down several streets and through backyards.
Police busted Haynes for domestic battery and resisting arrest, according to the Lehigh Acres Citizen.
Haynes had already been arrested twice this year for battery and larceny, according to the county sheriff's department.
