Shaquille O'Neal, Turner Strike Deal? Shaq Reportedly Lands New Gig With TNT

Well, that didn't take long. According to CNBC's Darren Rovell, Shaquille O'Neal has landed a new gig, agreeing to join Turner Broadcasting.

Rovell tweeted the news on Saturday, citing unnamed sources.

This would potentially put the future Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and host Ernie Johnson in the same studio for the TNT NBA pregame show.

Michael McCarthy of USA Today reported on Sunday that TNT spokesman Jeff Pomeroy said the network has "nothing in place at this time."

Shaq announced his retirement from the NBA on Twitter at the beginning of June and held a press conference a few days later.

I just watch for the banter, the banter is the funny part. Who cares about great game analysis? Let Chris Webber do that. When Chris gets serious he provides some nice insightful analysis.

Its not going to work out. He's gonna have maybe one line to say at the end of each long segment between Kenny, Barkley, and Ernie and it will most likely be corny. And then they will draw alot of joke pictures with him instead of Barkely. It will be good for a month or two then it will fizzle out.

Chris Weber is the best analyst there besides Kenny. You would trade Weber for Shaq? Shaq will be one monotone cornball fest voting for teams based on the bandwagon or some fabricate old school honor guard dictated by hypocrite Barkely. If will be fun to see Kenney analyze the games while the Shaq and Barkely coddle each others bal ls and joke around all day. Poor Ernie is gonna get wedgies more frequently now.

Another zillionaire who just can't give up The Life when he's too old and hurt to play any more.

It's hard to imagine that if I had a couple hundred million in the bank and a sore back and knees, that I would want to spend *any* of my time getting made up to talk a bunch of meaningless crap with Barkley and Kenny a few times a week.

But some guys just can't leave the court behind and will do anything that keeps them connected. Not too surprised Shaq is one of 'em. You're never going to see Phil Jackson doing this.
