The premiere of Curb Your Enthusiasm's eighth season was the show's most watched episode since 2004. The 10 p.m. broadcast drew 1.7 million viewers, up 53 percent compared to the seventh season premiere. The show brought in a combined 2.1 million viewers last Sunday night between the first airing and the repeat showing at midnight.

The new season, which takes place in New York instead of Los Angeles, has been hyped up by HBO. The premiere of True Blood at 9 p.m. also provided a strong lead-in, with 5 million viewers and another 1.1 million at 11 p.m.

The premiere of "Curb" marked the show's return after a lengthy hiatus of almost two years. The finale of the seventh season had Larry David reuniting the cast of "Seinfeld" and attempting to reconcile with his estranged wife Cheryl.
