Dakota Fanning Gets A Drastic Hairstyle? (PHOTO, POLL)

Update: Turns out Dakota didn't exactly take the pixie plunge. The new style is actually a wig, confirmed her reps to People.

Previously: Perhaps channeling Mia Farrow and Emma Watson, Dakota Fanning debuted a pixie cut on Monday while on set for her latest film, "Now Is Good," and BauerGriffin has the photos.

While the actress likely ditched her blonde locks for the movie in which she plays a leukemia patient, the style would be chic enough to maintain once filming wraps.

I like DF, but I am only now able to watch her movies again. After Spielberg had her scream all the way through every torturous second of War of the Worlds, I couldn't even look at a picture of her without cringing.

I don't like pixie cuts at all. Only a very vew women can pull it off. But I'm middle-aged now and I think pixie is in my future. I'm obese and my roots are dark with lots of gray, so why not make my life easier by owning up to my age and forget the blonde thing. Nobody looks at it but me, so what if it looks like crap? That's why they make hats! Besides, when you hit 50, you are allowed to be ugly. I'm just waiting for my hair to get about an inch longer so it will be a salt & pepper pixie instead of a military recruit cut....

for me, going from longer hair to a really short do was liberating... to me aging has been liberating. I am overweight, wear glasses and have short hair. My face is sagging and there are wrinkles.. but I feel beautiful! I treat myself to nice clothes and cute accessories. I use nice perfume and watch my health.... we will never look 20 again but that does not mean we can't feel good about who we are!
