Cantor's stated resistance to a grand bargain freighted with revenue increases -- and the perception that his position reflected the pulse of the GOP conference -- likely influenced Boehner's decision to scuttle his pursuit of a "big deal" with Obama.

OT - -- FOX sounds different these days. Does it have something to do with Murdoch's legal problems. I just happen to watch a Special Report and "Fox Experts" are saying nice things about the new relationship between Fox and the Obama White House. Hmmm.

Eric Can'tor is AIPAC's minion, so when he claims to be against taxing the Rich, it is really AIPAC and their overseers who are against it. Besides, he's got some skin in the game with the T Bonds that he shorted

Eric Cartman...er Cantor is an evil greedy opportunist who main goal is to be the next speaker of the house. Next month he will be liberal, and then the following month he would make Jesus the Official King of the US, to the horror to his Jewish mother. Her feelings won't matter much as he will be selling her soul to be speaker. RUN MOMMA CANTOR...RUN

Where was his big mouth when Bush & Co, got un into 2 wars that created this mess to begin with. He like all his cronies have a very selective memory. What's this guys future anyway.....limited at best. Everyone in congress should have their benefits suspended until they get this settled. Americans should demand all their benefits be suspended until they iron out a solution. We didn't elect a bunch of whinny do nothings to represent our best interests. If they can't do their job then they should be fired just like most workers in the USA.

Hate to tell ya, little buckaroo, but Obama could have stopped the unfunded wars anytime he wanted. At any rate, the current mess was not caused by the wars. It was caused by democrat gerrymandering in the home mortgage situation, but forcing banks/mortgage companies to offer sub prime mortgages- in order to give the "American dream" to financially disqualified individuals. The subsequent bundling and high risk financial schemes have been ignored or even blessed by Franks & Dodd (those a both democrats) who have had the key oversight chairmanships since 1998.

"democrats gerrymandering", I think you meant republican deregulation.

Ok. Lets get this straight. In the last decade we have had 2 wars and a great recession. Currently, the super rich are able to pay capital gains taxes at a rate of 15% which is more than their gardeners or housekeepers pay; yet we cannot raise their taxes because it will impact our prospect at jobs! These same people and corporations are sitting on record profits and still not hiring. Raising their taxes will not have a negative impact on our economy

All we hear is the job creators, all this time they have had tax cuts and we have no jobs. I am with you. F/F

Obama was able to speculate on "jobs created and saved" by the stimulus. Why can't republicans do the same? If the economy adds 100,000 jobs in a month, we can simply say the tax cut created 300,000, and Obama policies cost 200,000, therefore a net growth of only 100k

Cantor is a slime-of-a-politician. He will become richer if America defaults. Now we all know why he walked out on the last meeting. He does not want it to work.

Has Mr. Cantor sold his "short" US bond position? Or is he still in line to make money when the US defaults? That may explain why he is pulling the plug on the negotiations. Greed, not patriotism. Chutzpa not shame.

Is it possible for Cantor to say one lousy sentence without sounding like a whiny 5 year old girl?

"Chamique is not a name white parents give their children. If you were white, your name would be Carol".

Flagged for racial stereotyping.

You very well could be the only white girl in America named Chamique, but I doubt it. It is a lovely name and I never said anything disparaging about your name, just that white folks aren't usually as imaginative in naming their kids. Kind of thin-skinned for a black girl aren't you? Must have been raised in a well to do white neighborhood.

He holds there a paper stating that you don't raise taxes during a recession. Some should ask him when indeed it is expedient to raise taxes.

When there was the deficit during the Bush years but before the recession, was that a good time?
