No one could be happier that New York will finally offer marital justice and equality for all than talk show host and comedian, Joy Behar. In fact, she's so excited about the state's new marriage bill that she tells me she's even thinking of becoming an ordained minister.
"If the gays get married I will perform the ceremony," Behar told me backstage at 'The Joy Behar Show' last week. Now that Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the Marriage Equality bill after it passed in the state senate with a 33-to-29 vote, she better be a quick study.
Behar isn't the only one who was thrilled by the news. "I can't stop crying," Lady Gaga upon hearing the news. "We did it kids... The revolution is ours to fight for love, justice and equality. Rejoice, New York, and propose. We did it!" Also taking to twitter was father-of-two, Neil Patrick Harris, "IT PASSED! Marriage equality in New York! Yes! Progress! Thank you everyone who worked so hard on this! A historic night!"
Same sex couples can begin tying the knot on July 24, 30 days after the bill will have passed. Behar better get a move on her certification if she's serious about saying, "You may now kiss the groom."
