'Me & Mr. Jones': Natalee Holloway Film Trailer Released (WATCH)

First Posted: 07/12/11 01:03 PM ET Updated: 09/11/11 06:12 AM ET

Producers of the film, "Me & Mr. Jones" have released a sneak-peek trailer in anticipation of the movie's upcoming release.

The film tells the fictional story of an undercover journalist, played by actor Robert de Hoog, who visits Aruba five years after Natalee Holloway's disappearance. While in Aruba, de Hoog and an undercover reporter, played by Hanna Verboom, break into Joran van der Sloot's house and make a "shocking discovery," according to a description of the movie on Dutch filmmaker Paul Ruven's website.

Holloway, an 18-year-old high school student from Mountain Brook, Ala., disappeared May 30, 2005, while on a trip to Aruba. She was last seen leaving a nightclub with van der Sloot, who was then a 17-year-old Dutch honors student living in Aruba, and his two friends, Surinamese brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. All three young men were arrested, but they were released without charges. Holloway's body has never been found.

From the onset of the case, van der Sloot allegedly made multiple confessions, each varying significantly. As a result, Aruban prosecutors deemed them a mixture of "lies and fantasy" and decided not to take action against him.

The movie was filmed surreptitiously in April and May 2010 on the island of Aruba. During the shooting of the movie, Ruven altered the existing script for the film to incorporate yet another twist, van der Sloot's arrest in Peru for the first-degree murder and robbery of Stephany Flores, a 21-year-old woman who was found dead in van der Sloot's Lima, Peru, hotel room on June 2, 2010.

If convicted of Flores' murder, van der Sloot faces 15 to 35 years in prison.

Van der Sloot has since been indicted by U.S. authorities, who say he tried to extort $250,000 from Holloway's family for information on her death and the location of her body.

"Me & Mr. Jones" is not the first film about the Holloway case. In 2009, the Lifetime TV network aired a made-for-TV movie based on a book by Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty, "Loving Natalee: A Mother's Testament of Hope and Faith."

"Me & Mr. Jones" is scheduled for release in September.

Great a movie about a naive girl, with irresponsible parents, who is killed on a beach in a corrupt tropical paradise while binging on drugs and alcohol. I refuse to watch the trailer could someone tell me if there are going to be wizards, giant shape-changing robots or at least some super form of super heroes in the movie?

STOP! The Casey Anthony trial just ended and now this moves to the front page. No thank you. It's like God has a conveyor belt of trials/stories for us. As soon as one ends, another begins. While this isn't a trial, it's a criminal story. Enough.

LOOKS LIKE GARBAGE TO ME!! Beth Holloway strikes me as an opportunist who will use the sad disappearance of her daughter to profit financially!! She also loves the limelight. Why didn't she just write a book like Laci Peterson's Mom.???
06:33 PM on 07/12/2011
Ok, her mother did write a book and she speaks to young adults/teens all the time about the dangers of travel outside the country. What makes you think she is an opportunist? She is a mother in pain and if you read her book you would know that!

Here we go again.

The problem here is that there is no evidence-nothing-about Ms. Holloway's disappearance.

It would take a criminal genius, and there are no criminal geniuses in the real-life cast of characters.

Pretty blond disappeared white republican girls drive a certain segment of the population nuts.

If she was a stump-ugly prostitute from Fontucky, we'd never even see her obit printed in the paper.

I guess I've just had a problem with the all the events that lead up to her disappearance. Parents letting teenage girls go off to a foreign country, who even though Dutch supported, if they did some more research would know the West Indies isn't exactly the safest place, alone. Plus friends who did not have a problem with her leaving with three guys, they hardly knew.

We should try to sell a panty-unbundler on late-night TV to Nancy Grace fans.
