Michelle Obama's Midyear Style Report (PHOTOS, POLL)

Huffington Post     First Posted: 07/12/2011 8:15 am   Updated: 09/11/2011 5:12 am

We're more than halfway through the year, which means that it's time for a FLOTUS midyear style roundup!

Over the past six months, Michelle Obama introduced quite a few new pieces to her wardrobe, pairing them with accessories and sweaters that we've already seen (and have undoubtedly grown to love). Not much has changed in terms of her overall style -- she still picks statement belts, brooches and necklace and continues to wear bold colors, particularly jewel tones.

Among the first lady's latest wardrobe additions are a pale turquoise Barbara Tfank silk dress, a black and white Peter Som sheath, and an intricately-detailed Naeem Khan dusty rose colored skirt.

Take a look at our favorite 2011 ensembles so far (yes, this was narrowed-down) and let us know which looks you love the most. And for more of our midyear reports, check out Charlene Wittstock here, Carla Bruni here and Bettina Wulff here.

Mrs. Obama makes clothes look good.

WOW!!!! Some real stunners! I had no IDEA the woman had so many outfits and they look so varied and unusual and stylish and adventurous in a lot of cases. And so appropriate for the various functions. Huffpo goes out of their way to show some of the most unflattering angles and yet FLOTUS still pulls a lot of it off. Not to mention the fact that a lot of those tops have classic, timeless....ME written ALL OVER THEM.
Ring...Ring...
Oh Mrs. Obama...When you're finished with those outfits...ehem..Call me!

I agree that Michelle Obama looks wonderful in formal wear. She's very beautiful. But some of her other choices don't look very flattering. A little too "costumey" and unprofessional

She takes chances with fashion. That's a good thing. More often than not it works. Also a good thing.

How funny that posters are bringing up the tight economy talking wardrobe, Michelle has style and dresses more her age. She doesn't have to buy those outfits, many are given to her so that they can be seen (by the designers). Also, many of the previous first ladies dress like back in the 60's, course they are older. This article is about fashion, why bring up politics?

How can you rate Michelle Obama's style when you are showing "finger painting" outfits or gardening clothes?  Many of these pictures are of Michelle when she is relaxed, playing with children or speaking during the day.

If she dressed any up more, some People would have a big problem with it, the Right Wing anyone? These aren't the Nancy Reagan days when you dressed in Oscar de la Renta for every Photo Op or Jackie Kennedy who was a trend-setter for classic chic and was used as a muse like Audrey Hepburn.

I can find another 50 outfits of Michelle's that rate a 8-10, some of these are just bad pictures and she's in play clothes, yet she still has style.  A few misses here or there for sure, but which one of us is perfectly dressed everyday when there are so many more important things to worry about, like childhood obesity.

Nothing against Michelle Obama, but I don't think an article about her clothes is the appropriate thing to be talking on these economical hard times for the average American. That also goes for Kate, Pippa and others. It's just not right.

I agree she should stay away from high-waisted styles, but I think she looks terrific most of the time. Very classy.

Michelle's style is a mixture of class and adventure. It shows her intellect, spirit, and sense of fun even when the pictures of her are at a poor angle. She is among the greatest of our first ladies if not the greatest.
