I put up a post on here that made no lewd comments or remarks. I've noticed that some people here that don't agree with your point of view will flag your comments as abusive without any right to do so. It is taking advantage of this websites moderation capabilities and i'm going to find out how to stop this. People should have the right to make observations without being censored because they don't like the point of view. By the way my observation was "What are the odds that these people were of the Caucasian persuasion?" Meaning that if they were trying some kind of fun stunt, i don't think it was anyone else. That's not abusive it's just an observation.

Are you serious? Two people try to kill themselves, one actually does it, and you make slanderous political commentary? I know it is probably a joke, but still.

Statisticly, suicides are very rarely naked, so I kinda doubt this was a suicide attempt, though whatever were they thinking?
As I tend to be pro-death I tend to think all the suicide hotline phones and high fences are sort of silly. What they should really do is have two diving boards and nice steps to get up.
After all despite it being "illegal" to kill yourself, they can't prosecute you if you succeed, only if you fail. In reality your right to kill yourself is one of the very few rights you have remaining that cannot be taken away.

The mean spirited, cynical comments to this story inspire a feeling in me that those of you suffering under the economic and political system of our country are getting what you deserve. Seems that too many people only have compassion for themselves.

Having been across the Tappen Zee many hundreds of times--too many to count, I cannot imagine a less-glamorous bridge to jump from. It's not especially high (the guy survived) and it's not one you'd keep a postcard of. The most CURIOUS thing is how they were able to STOP on the bridge, take off their clothes and jump, without 10,000 people who were forced to stop for them, not tearing them apart!

Are you suggesting they should have driven to San Francisco?

This brings me back a few years to the kingston rhinecliff bridge in ny when a nun jumped off the bridge to her death and was named "the flying nun" If the economy blows out we will see more of this kind of thing.

I guess this was their plan, happens a lot. The Golden Gate bridge has been notorious for suicide jumpers over the years.

Watch, "The Bridge" to see the dark side of the Golden Gate. Unbelievable that so many hurting people are walking among us and showing little to no signs.

After reading most of these comments, it is wonderment that more folks have not shed clothing and jumped the rail.

They have a radio series on NPR called "unfiction", or something like that; I was listening to a story in the car about a guy who had jumped off the bridge down in St. Petersburg/Tampa, and survived...one of the very few. He said it was not high enough to die on impact. Most die by drowning, because they are so injured they can't make it back to the surface. He was thinking on the way down, I want to survive-he could feel his bones break as he hit the water. He struggled to make it to the surface, gasping for breath in excruciating pain, and was rescued by a passing boat. A friend of mine jumped from that bridge in college and died. They interviewed this guy years later, drinking with his friends. He said he'd never, ever do it again, or anything like it. People, DON'T do this!
