10 Ways To Make Up For Skipping The Gym

Some days we really are just too busy to get in a full workout. But that doesn't mean you can't fire up your muscles, spike your heart rate and reap the healthy benefits of exercise -- even if you don't do a whole routine. Hannah Williams, a private trainer at the Reebok Sports Club in New York City, gave us 10 tricks to squeeze in a workout, wherever your day takes you.

Walking Lunges

On your way the bus, the train or into work, try a walking lunge to get your heart rate up in the morning. "People might look at you weird, but it's pretty obvious you're exercising, and it's a great way to activate your muscles," says Williams.

The plank thing (#7) the copy says "elbows on the ground" but the photo shows arms extended. Which is it? I always thought plank was like the latter.

Planks can be done with either the elbows on the ground, or arms extended with hands on the ground.

People should find 1000 or more reasons not to go to they gym...one of the most hideous features of modern life fueled by an insatiable thirst for being beautiful or remaining beautiful or living forever..how about walking or running or one of the many natural and proven ways to remain healthy in the body and mind instead of the torture at the contraprions of the temples of body building and the risky antics of aerobics and such other tortures wrought by an insatiable health industry...

Some people like the gym, so it's not torture at all. I do a yoga studio, myself. My husband runs outside. People should find what they like and do that.
