Eden Wood, Six-Year-Old Beauty Queen, Retires (VIDEO)

Beauty queen Eden Wood has retired from the pageant circuit at 6-years-old, "Good Morning America" reports.

After racking up 300 wins, and becoming a fixture on "Toddlers and Tiaras," Eden is hanging up her crown to build a mini-empire -- including the Eden Wood Princess Canopy bed collection, her own action figure, a memoir entitled From Cradle to Crown, a variety show and an upcoming album. She already made $1,000 from first single "Cutie Patootie," which apparently didn't go over well when she performed on "The Talk."

Eden's mom Mickie remarked, "I couldn't believe the disgust and the disdain. If you want to attack somebody, attack me. I'm a big girl I can handle it. I mean, come on, [Sharon Osbourne] has a performance family. My kid's no different." And then she helped her daughter pen a song called "Under Puppy" (the smaller version of an underdog) dedicated to Osbourne.

Mickie said, "I think [Eden]'s following in the footsteps of some pretty big people who have done pageants like Oprah Winfrey," adding, "As long as she enjoys what we're doing and what she's doing, mama's gonna keep doing it. If it leads to the Miley Cyrus status or the Selena Gomez or whoever, so be it. If it doesn't, that's fine, too....Why not see if we can't have a Hollywood contract? A reality show? A spot on a Disney program? Why not? It's the American Dream. It's almost like her destiny."

I saw her and her mom on The View. The mom seemed nice, a teacher, not as whacko as some of the moms, but then I haven't seen her before. She could be a nut in these pagants But she brings the kid out in full makeup, a six-year-old, on The View. Unbelievable. The kid had on more eye makeup than I wear. The mom has her stand and prance and sing a song and talks about her being the next Miley Cyrus. The kid was no better than anyone's little girl singing in their own house, in other words, average. Whoopi looked disgusted with the whole thing.

This is way too much pressure for a young child. This whole beauty pageant thing should be banned for children under 12.

Why are so many mothers of these little beauty queens unattractive adult women themselves?

I actually think these pageants are a good idea. They should be used to weed out unfit parents.

If you enter your child in more than 2 or three a year, you and you child should be subject too weekly therapy and psychological analysis.
If you insist on having your child do more than 20 of these in a year, Child Services should immediately take custody of your child until you receive a doctors acknowledgement that your fit to raise children.

All of these women who put their children in pageants are living vicariously threw them, its just not healthy. And lets not even talk about the mothers who give their toddlers plastic surgery and botox.

**Shudder**

Now, all she needs are normal parents who will allow her to have a normal childhood.

She'll be bussing tables at a waffle house by 19, pregnant with her second child.

I certainly hope not. I hope that she uses her earned money to obtain a very good education.

It's about time she retired. Just look at those wrinkles! Unless you are an embryo, you are too old to compete in a beauty pageant. And don't even get me started on those 13-year-old runway models. They may as well be lumbering down the catwalk with a walker and 50 cats trailing behind them!

I could write a whole thesis on why these people are simply in the wrong and the damaging effects it's going to have on their children as they grow into adulthood....but....frankly....the utter disbelief in these people leaves me speechless and disgusted!

Thank god. She had peaked a long time ago and was on a steady decline. I thought that was a picture of Keith Richards before I read the caption.

If she can write...
Then again I'm sure her mother will write them for her... including lovely memories of being a fetus and her perfect conception...

Nevermind, I can't even joke about this, these people are deeply disturbing, I personally get the creeps around 'sports' parents, and this is on a whole new level.

Be wary of the showbusiness mom. It's not about the kid 'wanting it'. It's all about the mom wanting it. Good luck with your life, kid.
