Time to officially kick off the 2011-2012 TV season.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, through hosts Melissa McCarthy and Joshua Jackson, will announce the nominees for the 63rd Primetime Emmys on Thursday morning, starting at 8:30 AM EST.

A lot is riding on this year's awards: will Steve Carell's Michael Scott finally get non-Dundee gold in his last year of eligibility? Does Jon Hamm charm his troubled Don Draper into his first trophy? Will Amy Poehler and the crew of "Parks and Recreation" get recognized for their brilliance? And will the Kardashian sisters find some way to get rewarded for theirs?

As much as I adore Peter Dinklage in GoT, it's an absolute travesty that Michael Shannon wasn't even nominated for Boardwalk Empire. Meanwhile, not one, but two supporting actor noms for the mediocre The Good Wife? Really? Ugh.

Here's hoping Ty Burrell and Friday Night Lights win!

I love how HP, slips in the bit about Parks and Rec and their brilliance. I really enjoy that show, but "brilliance?" Please. I do not know how much Parks pays or what relationship they have with HP, but it is just shocking the extent to which HP will come up with stories about the stars of that sho on the entertainment page etc. It has gotten to the point where HP's shameless promotion of this show is laughable. I say this even as a fan of the show.

Thanks and well said. When I attempt to comment that maybe 30 Rock and Parks and Rec are probably not going to save our society.......well, you get pounced on. Someone on the staff is related to Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, or dated them, or owes them money. But, come on, brilliance, not close.

I know, it's a fine show but c;mon already. Everyday it seems there's an uncalled for article about the Ron Swanson character (which is basically a rip off of several SNL sketches over the years. Rashida Jones has a story about her in her every other week. I routinely see Aubrey Plaza and Aziz Ansari, who both are only mildly funny as bit actors on here (sometimes HP even tries to sneak them into top 100 lists or stuff like that. It's ridiculous.

The words "Kardashian sisters" and "brilliance" do not belong in the same sentence!
