Stephen Rooney, Killed By Lightning Just As Bolt Killed His Father 48 Years Ago

On Sunday, Hammonton, N.J., resident Stephen Rooney saw lightning in crack across the sky before turning to his family saying, "Don't worry guys, lightning never strikes twice."

Rooney's last words to his relatives and friends at a barbecue alluded to the electrical storm that killed his father 48 years earlier during a fishing trip. In a cruel twist of fate, Rooney was struck dead by lightning as he smoked cigars with his cousin Scott Digeralarmo NBC Philadelphia reported.

Digeralarmo survived the thunderbolt, but Rooney died five days after the accident, the Daily Mail reported.
