Wild Goose Festival 2011: Justice, Spirituality And The Arts (VIDEO)

Wild Goose Festival

First Posted: 07/14/11 11:13 PM ET Updated: 09/13/11 06:12 AM ET

Modeled after the nearly 40-year-old annual Greenbelt Festival in England, The Wild Goose Festival, recently held in Shakori Hills, N.C., was described by organizers as a opportunity for followers of Jesus to celebrate justice, spirituality, music and the arts. The festival, though, was open to all, regardless of belief, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, denomination or religious affiliation.

LOL, I love all the double-talk, slogans, creed and mumbo-jumbo when a Christian is using their special language.

When a person is talking about something that isn't real, or at least for which no evidence exists, you get this unique verbal gobbledygook that never ceases to enchant and amuse me.

The bad news: Christianity will almost certainly be extinct in 100 years, if they haven't made the rest of us extinct, vis a vis their attachment to the Republican party, before then.

Well, whatever. They only believe in one more flying spaghetti monster in the sky than I do. They can do whatever they want behind closed doors as far as I'm concerned.

Some of these people almost remind me of some of the Wiccans I know. I could get to like Christians of this stripe. Not join them obviously, but there's far more room to create common ground with happy hippie Christians than the psychotic evangelical right-wing variety. :-)

But nearly all of you believe in a bunch of mythological hoo-ha that doesn't make any of you look very good.

This video is such a lovely tribute to what truly feels to be a new work of the Holy Spirit in our world. I participated in the Wild Goose Festival and was greatly blessed by the experience. Here's my blog about it: www.elephantjournal.com/2011/06/wild-goose-festival-spiritual-renewal-takes-flight/

That festival looked really nice, though IMO they could have used a little better picture than the one shown here which looks more like Woodstock than my inner Punk is comfortable with :D

Welcome to the Pagan Party, you can bring Jesus along if you like.
Everything's going to be alright.

Really? I can see Jesus hanging out with these people, maybe chilling to the folk music with some wine he happened to bring along.

Maybe you'd prefer he was organizing a bombing campaign somewhere before driving off in his Hummer? ;-)

Ah, you beat me to the observation. I remarked above how much they remind me of my Wiccan friends. I think that's pretty neat.

Also, fanned for your avatar. Indeed a dog *can* have Buddha nature. I've never met one who didn't. :-)

I'm sure he would enjoy a weekend with the 'wild goose'
