A teenage boy camping near Twin Lakes, Colorado, was grabbed and bitten by a black bear early Friday morning as he slept in a tent. 9News reports the boy was camping on private property with the Colorado Bowhunters Association near the Quail Mountain Recreation Area.

The boy required minor medical attention, while the black bear will be tracked by Colorado Division of Wildlife officials and likely put down.

Rose Ashurst of the Bowhunters Association told 7News that she had heard reports of bears ransacking empty tents, but never entering an occupied tent.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife notes that black bears are not naturally aggressive but can be extremely intent on finding a meal.
