School In China Teaches Women How To Marry Rich

Marry Rich

Lesson one in this school: How to marry a billionaire.

Beijing's Moral Education Centre for Women is offering 30 hours of classes for 20,000 RMB (or about $3,080) that teaches women how to marry rich.

Lessons include best practices in make-up application and interpreting facial expressions to determine if the man across from you is a liar. The school also offers classes on different varieties of tea.

Marrying rich has become "the goal for many of China's Cinderellas," according to Beijing Today.

The school has seen large enrollments since it opened last August, attracting more than 2,800 middle class women so far. China boasts 189 billionaires and is just short of 1 million millionaires, Reuters reports.

From Reuters:

Wealthy eligible bachelors have approached the school in search of soulmates, and can spend up to 30,000 yuan as an introductory fee.

In the past few months, the school says it has successfully matched 30 couples that resulted in marriage.

That's about a year's salary for a lot of Chinese citizens. More than a year's salary, for some. So this is an astronomical tuition fee in China.

I like the flowers on the first woman's wedding dress. Marriage is not about love anyways; its a business arrangement or at least that's how most people view it.

Quite an interesting course. Are there such lessons at US schools as well? Does anyone know?

As much as romantic love is becoming more widespread, sugar-daddies are also more common in China. Here's an interesting item about the materialistic love in China - http://thinkingchinese.com/index.php?page_id=128

Marrying a loved one with money is not the same as marrying money of which no matter who possesses. Also I guess some who attend this school might be there only for noble education of courtesy.

"Marry for love and look like you married for money."

in 3 years of teaching in China, very few of my students have expressed a desire to marry rich (fyi, i'm referring to a sample of roughly 300 disadvantaged female college students at a Peace Corps site). it's a topic that often comes up, as marriage is commonly entered into just after graduation and thus is often on the minds of college students. in fact, the slight majority of my students would rather avoid marriage and children entirely. their opinion was formed by observing the experiences of their own mothers. with that said, most of these girls still expect a suitor to have at least purchased a home if he's going to be seriously considered for marriage.

Yet another example of people valuing the sanctity of marriage.

How can you manage to come to such a solemn concluding upon this kind of funny thing?
You are mighty funnier than that.

You need to read a "Sarcasm for Dummies" book.

That's funny. I keep hearing from these grumpy non married men that these women are non-materialistic and don't care about looks.

This "school" is just another guise for cathouse.

The Chinese have over 30 MILLION more men than women because of the INSANE "One Child" policy. It has become a seller's market for women, as women in China can be picky and choosy about marriage and who they marry. What these women do NOT understand is that the options for those men with money are plenty....like the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Those women would be far more appreciative than those self-entitled at that "school". How do I know this? My beautiful Queen is from the Philippines, and she treats me like a King. How many American men can say that about their American wives these days?

Regulars at strip clubs always get the VIP treatment. How much is the "long time" fee in the Philippines these days?

Depends on whether you are Subic City or the The Barrio!

You're funny. Do you think any man in China that has money, the type of mate these "students" are trying to grab, are going to lay down for a gold digger? They will go to women in societies that are known for the women taking care of their husbands.

...and you're comfortable with that non-equal relationship dynamic? I don't know about you, but if I marry, I want a spouse, not a dog.
11:06 PM on 07/22/2011
How is it "non-equal"? She is my wife. What is wrong with a wife taking care of her husband?

I think China has it figured out here. Giving some women access to billions of dollars will have a very stimulative affect on spending. Maybe they will buy and empty city or two.

Honest about what? To be shameless enough to blatantly characterize oneself as a golddigger in marriage is not the kind of 'honest' we want to see.
04:46 PM on 07/15/2011
I guess at least they are honest about it. But just as these women marry for money and power, they should know that the flip side is that men marry for youth and beauty. And that the smart billionaires here will have a solid pre-nup when they trade in for a new model.
