AIDS Walk San Francisco Raises More Than $3 Million (PHOTOS)

25,000 people gathered in Golden Gate Park on Sunday for the 25th annual AIDS Walk San Francisco and raised a staggering $3,011,245 to support HIV prevention, testing, and care services at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

"Today, tens of thousands of participants, supported by an extraordinary number of individual donors, raised $3,011,245 to make a real difference in the fight against HIV," said AIDS Walk San Francisco founder and organizer Craig R. Miller.

SInce 1987, AIDS Walk San Francisco has raised more than $77 million dollars to support AIDS services, making it the largest AIDS fundraising event in Northern California.

it's almost absurd to think that this epidemic could be ended by, essentially, awareness.

if everyone got tested before having unprotected "relations" with their partner(s) there would be no new cases. if everyone used protected there would be drastically fewer cases. i'm going to leave out abstinence because i think sexual compatibility is an important relationship component for sexually active individuals.

Congrats to the very giving people of SF. Living with HIV myself, it brings encouragement to see how many caring souls are out there. Bravo!! I typically drive to Atlanta for theirs.

Cheers to all the Walkers !!!! and everyone who Donated ( Money and Time ), gave Support, and Volunteered. It's Great when People get together for a common thread and Succeed. There's way too much going on in this world of people fighting and doing anything against what another party is doing. Amazing... God Bless
