Edward Mujica, Marlins Reliever, Falls Asleep During Game (VIDEO)

The Marlins have hardly had an exciting season. As of today they sit 13.5 games back of first place in the NL East, so much so, that their players apparently are not even bothering to stay awake during games now.

During the game on Saturday, TV cameras caught Marlins reliever Edward Mujica "resting his eyes" so to speak in the bottom of the second inning. While it was an admittedly funny moment, color commentator Bob Brenley wasn't impressed, saying on air, "Come on! Sleep at night."

Hat tip to Big League Stew!

Why should he be different from the average baseball watcher.

I know most of the comments here will be jokes, but with the schedule and travel these guys have to keep, I'm not surprised he nodded off. Imagine playing an extra inning game until the wee hours on the west coast and then flying back east for a game later that same day.

That's my reaction to watching baseball on TV. If he had access to beer and dogs, I'm sure he would have been more lively. I love baseball-- can't stand it televised.

Try listening to a Los Angeles Dodger game with Vin Scully doing the announcing - the Dodgers may be a shadow of their former selves but Vin is still the best.

He has a beautiful voice. But I still only tune in toward the end of games.

And where, may I ask, is the pile of shaving cream on top of this guy's head? I think the rest of the relief crew must have been sleeping, too, if they missed that opportunity.
