Seventeen Cover Girls Before They Became Stars: Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon & More (PHOTOS)

Before they were stars, they were on the cover of Seventeen.

The 67-year-old teen magazine has seen lots of cover models come and go, but Diane Lane, Brooke Shields, Angie Harmon and Milla Jovovich are among the lucky girls who smiled for the glossy and soon after shot to superstardom.

Some, like Katie Holmes, were already gaining popularity for their earliest roles ("Dawson's Creek," anyone?). But some were completely unknown: Cameron Diaz was just an undiscovered "real girl" model back in 1990, telling the magazine, "My ultimate dream is to be a zoologist. Maybe go on safari in Africa and study lions."

she was always weird looking and has now morphed into scary looking.

I'm not sure why I think Katie Holmes is one hot lady, but she is one hot lady! For the record, I think they are all very lovely.

Cameron sure didn't age well at all!! wow, she looks pretty rough. Diane Lane, Angie Harmon, and several others look better with age. Brooke Shields is another one who hasn't aged well

Yeah I have to agree with several other posters. Years from now will you be showing covers of Siri Cruise, and Angie and Brads kids and say "before they were famous"? Because they're famous now!

These aren't like when Jan Smithers was on the cover of life as a wild teen biker girl, and then became famous. Most of these girls were at least models, or on TV shows when these covers were made.

would name on the cover imply that some of these girls had acquired a measure of fame already? some were little known models and future actors, but the working actors are on the cover because they are already known entities, i.e. famous.

I like her, overall I think she is a pretty woman, and I enjoyed her in that getting married movie with Julia Roberts and the guy with the lobster mittens. But this picture of her isn't very becoming.

There have been Asian, Latina, and even African-American models on Seventeen's covers, but none went on to A-list Hollywood fame unlike these celebrities.

She was always a pretty gal...She used to visit a niteclub in LA called Vertigo and was a lot of fun and very tomboyish...and in actuality...noone thought she was all that...makeup does wonders...however..she proved a lot of people wrong and has turned out to be a hardworking actress and prettier now than before..but it does look like she changed something...and not from getting older.
