It's not easy to get to Michele Bachmann. Her appearance at a rally on Tuesday in Aiken, South Carolina, attended by perhaps 150 people, featured three uniformed police officers and two body guards in plain clothes. One those guards spent much of the day preventing reporters from getting too close to the candidate. As she greeted fans and signed autographs after her speech, he planted himself directly in front of another man filming her chit-chat with a hand-held video camera. (At another event on Tuesday I had seen the same man making hand gestures to another Bachmann staffer when I came near with a pen and pad.)

Did I miss the article? I was expecting something a bit more meaty with such an inflammatory headline. "Hand gestures?" Wow. Great morning entertainment from the Huff!

Migraines may explain the revolving door of Congressional staffers, difficult to deal with pain and not be annoyed by staff questions.

Bachmann doesn't seem to know that she will NOT be allowed to ignore these questions IF she gets the nomination. Oh, and her bodyguard roughing up a reporter? That will cost her the election.

My mother had migraines, too. Whenever she resorted to her Rx medication, she HAD to lie down for at least a couple of hours.....more often the rest of the day. I would NOT want any President to be having those kinds of headaches on any kind of regular basis and then take Rx medication (often narcotics)....while being only a heartbeat away from that BIG RED BUTTON.

Don't worry about the headaches Michelle. It's just a thought trying to make it's way our of your brain. I know, I know, a strange experience for you.

She is starting to look a lot more like the thin-skinned Sarah Palin, who tries to hide from most of the press.

"My ability to function effectively will not affect my ability to serve as commander in chief."

That sentence reads funny. It seems like she is saying that her ineffectiveness will not hinder her ability to serve as president. She admits she is ineffective.

Yeah, I read their (the candidates') statements carefully. That sentence is inarticulate at best. Of course, if it was "crafted" by an aid, that raises other questions. You can pretty much identify fuzzy thinking (or hedging) when people become verbose. What she meant, presumably, is "My ability to function effectively is not affected by migraines." She's got to throw some other junk into the sentence in an attempt to preclude follow-up questions. Appalling.

If the migraines can debilitate her for hours or days that places her ability to preform the duties of the office she seeks in serious question.

I get migraines just listening to her. If I don't hit the mute button within 5 seconds, I'm a goner....
